A Warning. |
For the last few Saturday nights
we have been noticingseveral boys
from the country staying in town
until late. They average from
fifteen to twenty years old and
seem to be after amusement. We
have not seen any of them drink~
ing or doing anything wrong, but
at the same time we would kindly
give them warning. We know
where the breakers are and would,
as a friend, advise you to steer your
boat clear of them, There are
some young men who can witha
stand temptation but the majority
of them are caught iu the current
and carried on down the stream
that has lead and is still leading
so many to destruction and death.
It is the duty of parents to make
home facinating and attractive so
that their boys will prefer it to the
allurements of the outside world,
and the fathersand mothers whoal
low their sons to stay in the city
until a late hour en Saturday
nights will live to regret it. Some
of these same boys will bring your
zrayhairs in sorrow to the grave.
We have reference to no particu
lar boy but write this and raise it
as a danger siznal.

! Fat Maw’s Raca.
On last Thursday morning a
crowd gathered in front of the en
gine house in answer to summons
of the fire bell. It was a false
’ alarm and all the young men feel
'ing good decided to have some
amusement before dispursing. A
foot race was gotten up on the
spur of the moment, and the com
petitors were Col. W B Gihson
and JudgeJ L Janes. Their weight
is about 2401bs each, and bets were
nearly equally divided between the
two; Gibson, however, was the
favorite and had to give Judge
Janes ten steps the start in a sev
enty-five yard race. Both did
some good work but Judge Janes
fairly humped himself on the home
stretch and came out three lengths
ahead of Gibson, smid the cheers
and shouts of his friends who had
backed their judgement in his
ability to win the race,

tenth part borax, one-fifth part a

as the one following cannot be
written, printed or otherwise pres
ervec, upon some sort of indestruc
tible paper. ‘“My wife suffered
seven years and was bed ridden,
too,” said W, E. Huestis, of Em
poria, Kansas, “number of physi
cians failed to help her. Dr. Pierce's
‘Golden Medical Discovery’ cured
her.” All druggists sell this reme
dv. Everybody ought to keep it.
It only needs a trial.
