DAWSON, GEORGIA,
b Madison c;);intyu voted oa prohi.

Fun out—among the Indians still
cmt'nies. The rows are Crows fur
nishing amusement for Uncle Sam’s
wariors,
Those who visited Macon on
veteran’s day no doubt have a faint
recollection of the old soldier with
the Joe Brown pike and collard
stalk.
What will the peohibitionists of
Atlanta do. Bam Jones has retus
ed to take a hand in the campaign
against whiskey.
Yesterday was sale doy. Sevs
eral lois of the Elam Johnson
Estate ot Bronwood were sold at
yublic ouicry for a division among
the heirs.
The wheat importing countrie
ot Europe require this vear aloat
two hundred million bushels of
wheat ard the antire surplus ot
the United States will be requived
to supply the demand.
The exports of merchandise for
September amounted t0}55,281,768
the imports to 56,069,735. This is
nearer & balance between] exports
and imports of merchandise than
for many montha.
Eleven prohibition cases were
booked, in one day, in Atlanta
last week. Does this weaken the
prehibition cause in that city or
will it be of benefit to the party in
the November election? The echo
answers ‘“wait.”
Tom Woolfolk who murdered
his fathers family in Bibb county
is beginning to wake up and look
about him. He las offered Bo
licitor General Hardeman one
thousand dollers if he will give
him a tair trial.
An excaige says that the Rev.
RBam Jones raised $30,000 for the
young men's Christian Associaiion
in Birmingham a few sundays ago.
Perhaps the y, m, e, a, are go'ng
to speculating in Birmingham real
-estate.
The Anarchist and Socialistic
clements of the Knights ot Labor
have ceceded from the order. The
t-iends of ihe order and of lakor
geverally must cong-atulate the
Kuights upon the secession. This
is one of the cises in which a loss
mcans a gala.
The business men of Atlanta to
show their appreciation of Mr.
Henry W Grady's work in that
city have presented him with a
solid silver set worth $1,200. Mr.
Grady has perhaps done more for
Atlanta than any man init and
the people know 1t and appreciate
it
Some one has truthfully and
forcible said thats
Dutiful and affectionate sonsand
daughters make happy parents.
No other successes in lite can com
pensate for the want of these.
Children who hovor their pa
rents always prosper, God has so
promised: and His word never
fails.
“Good deeds” once said the cele
brated Richter, ‘‘ring clear
through Heaven like a bell.” One
of the Dest deeds is to alleviate hu
man sufferings. ‘“Last fall my
daughter was in decline,” says Mrs.
Mary Hinson, ot Montrose, Kan-«
sag, “And everybody thought she ‘
was going into consumption. I got’
her a bottle of Dr. R. V. Pierce’s
*Favorite Prescription,’ and it curs
ed her.” Such facts as the above
need no comment.

We have noticed closely tne Col

I desire to state that the material

so widely circulated so as to cresfe

that it emenated from the officers
and agents of a powerful and
shrewd corporation, and that they
have succeeded in finding parties
who, doubtless honestly but un
wittingly, are moving to blind the
parties which weso uncomplaining

Sunday morning a Negro was
brovight into town on a wagon and
carried to the Doctors for repairs
It se¢:ms that he took on too much
red—~eye Saturday night and start
ing wp the railroad toa fiolic
gave out on the way and laid down
on*the track for a nap. From the
woun-l he received his head was on
the rail and his body on the outside
of th.e track when the train passéd
along- and struck him.
Th 2 wheel struck him on the
head and tore the skin off of a
place three inches across, leaving
the skull exposed but not at all
fractiired. (It takes something
wors > than the wheel of a locomo
tive moving at the raie of thiity
miles. an hour to break cuffy’s
skull.) The wound was sewed vp
and the Negro whea last heard
from was doing well.
