Kissirg at the Gate,
T would like to say a word to
the girl who thinks it proper wo
“kiss at the gate.” I consider it
very thoughtless, to ase no harsher
word, for a girl solicited or unsoe
licited (for a modest girl would
give a kiss no sooner on being press.
ed for it than she would unasked),
to give or lake a kiss trom auy
but a betrothed husband. A girl
so doing and thinking it pn}Zl
couduet, has had her education
sadly neglected; she mast be moths
erless or worse, for surely no jus
dicious parent could rear a daugh
ter with such ideas, A girl it
she did it from o higher motive,
would think many times before
she would endanger her good name;
her standivg in the opinion of any
right minded voung man would
be very low indeeed. They would
say, and truly, too that a girl who.
valued her kisses so lightly would
to say the least, be very careless
of her reputaiion, aud no man will
knowingly, take for a life compan
ion a girl who gives her lips to
everyone who happens io part from
her at the gate. Depend upon it,
girls, no man thinks the Jess of
you because you keep your lips
pure for your future husband; if
you are never blessed with one
you will have the sweet concious=
ness of knowing, if your life. has
been pure and your conduct mod
est, that you have not missed the
crowning glory ot womanhocd by
unmaidenly behavior.—Mary A.

Tt is said that thesprohibitionisfs
held meeiings ot the opera house

loud hurrabs and cheering. These

considering this unchristian-like
