The peace of our quiet town was dis
turbed or Monday night, by some rowdy
bacchanalians, who wandered up and
down tbe streets nttcricg their blas
phemous oaths at every one they met ;
they also troubled a >me merchants by

they entered their store rooms. Where
is our Marshall? Can’t pescahlc eiti
zens be protected from such troublesome
visitors ? If any one desires to wor
ship at the slirite of Bacchu», let him
do so undor his own “vine and fig'
tree.”
VV hile traveling on tbe cars the other
day, we noticed a couple of young men
that entered the ladies car with some
extra baggage, which, upon examinatieu
by the conductor and one of his men,
proved to be five or six days rations of
baker’s bread, a bundle of armv muskets
and a small keg that appeared to con
tain powder. They were promtly re
moved to another car by one of the rail
road mm, who made the owner promise
io pay dear for their whistle. They
were well cquipel for the campaign.

the most ruinous, dangerous and mis
chevious things possible. Nothing so
speedily and surely marks tbeir course

practices, criminal sentiment, and a law
les, riotous bearing. Indeed, it is in

acquire the education and the capacity

alleged that a proposition was then made
to hire his rot ms for religious meetings,

Whereas official Information has been received
at this Department that a murder was committed
in the county of Terrell on the I9tli of Augrust.
80S, upon the body of Martin Martin, by Abner
Keaton, and that said Keaton hss fled from Jus
tice < I have thought proper, therefore, to issue
this, my Proclamation, hereby offering a reward
of TWO HUNUKKD DOLI AUd for the appre
hension and delivery of the Said Keaton to the
(Sheriff of said county and State. And Ido more
over charge and require all officer's in this State,
civil and military, to be vigilant In endeavoring to
apprehend the said Keaton, In order that he may
be brought to trial for the u[fence with which he
stands charged.
