In ng much as it hath pleased the Alwiso
Creator to remove fiom amODgas our worthy
and beloved brother, Richard H, FI tcher,
who was killed May 19lli, 1869, we kre forci
bly reminded in these, our solemn duties in
respect to his memory, that the decree has
goue forth and man must die, regardless of
what he might have been iu life, this mortal
frame is but a heap of dust.
Whereas, since we are brougiit to deplore
the death of our worthy and beloved brother,
let us, with humble submission, bow to ths
will of Him, who ordereth all things right,
and trust that our bereavement workelh lor
him an eternal bliss beyond the confines of
this earth I “In the midst of life we are in
death," therefore, be it resolved:
Ist. That in the death of Bro. Fletcher, P.
T. Schley Lodge has lost a usetul member,
the community, a worthy citizen, and the be
reavep family an affectionate husband aud s
devoted father.
2nd. That we truly and sincerely condole
with the family of the deceased in their sad
affli tious, though we mourn for him as be
ing separated fram our temporary Brother
hood, to be united to a higher aud better or
der beyonb the Grave

OBITUARY,
Died, at tLe residence of Mr. M. S.
Melton, in Terrell count}’, after a brief
but sevtre illness, Mis. M. 11. Melton,
aged nineteen years and five tnontbe. —
The deoeaeod was a failibful aud con
vertsd member of the Babtist Church,
and died in full triumph of a living faith.
Sue left, surviving her, a devoted hus
band and a sweet little infant, eleven
months old. It may be truly said that
their loss is her Eternal gain. Our
prayer is that G and may give her be
reaved husband faith in his word and
resignation to his holy will.
A FRIEND.
Mrs. S. M Roberts was born in Craw
ford co., May 22 id, 1822 ; married L.
M Roberts, D-e. 14th, 1837, ami died
of consumption in Dawson, Ga , April
6tb, 1869.
She embraced r ligion aod j ined the
Presbyteriao Caurch in Maoon, G ~ in
her 18th year, subsequently remove to
Dawson, and there being no Presbyter
ian Church in the plaoe, the joined the
M. E. Church. S utb, of which she was
a member when she died. She was u
devoted and confiding wife, a loving
mother, a true and trusty friend, a good
neighbor and a consistent CbritiaD.
During her sickuess, she suffered long
and much, but eudured with Curistiau
fortitude aud pi ns resignatior. A few
days before she died she said, “I deeiic
yet a clearer testimony of my accep
tanoe with God”—gave herself unto
prayer aud soon obtained the full assur
ance aud shouted aloul the praise of
God. Four days and nights bhe yet
lingered on the short, r. joieiDg the while
iu hope of the gioiy of God. Just be
fore tue sum mors came' she called her
husband, children and friends around
her bed, told them she was ready aud
anxious to depart aud be at rest, cxhori
them ta be faithful till death and meet
her in heaven. Such prayers, such ex
hortaiions and thouts cf triumph one
rarely hears ou earth. Rttional to the
last, her death affords srroDg evidence of
the truth of the Christian religion -
