Gentlemen’s furnishimr goods of ev ery description, two thousand dollars worth of ready made clothing. Boots, shoes hats for the million, also a large lot of cashmeres, doeskins, jeans and corduroys, selling at 20 per cent less than ever before at the “choice store” of E Kcttxek. Thero were three entries for the premium at the pacing race at the Fair Ground on Saturday last Mr. Jimmie Crim was winner, having made the distance, one mile, in 3 min. 15 sec. Mr. James Claik, 3 min 17 ecc , ami Mr. Harp in 3 min., 42 sec. Special attention is directed to ad ministrators sale ot land by IJ. II llood, on the first Tuesday in Jan uary. This is a very desirable place ; not having been settled long, all the buildings are new, and lying immedi ately on the railroad and being so near town, makes it the more valua ble. Johnson & tSjiith, the wide awake, enterprising firm of Macon, offer to their old customers of South Wost Georgia, first class goods at such pri ces as will not fail to give entire sat faction. They also wish to form new acquaintances and wo clnerfully com mend the house to all wishing goods in their line. Church music is something that should be unobjectionable to every one as it does not debar a congrega tion from singing, and at tho same : time adds so much to the devotional 1 spirit of a congregation. It was our pleasure on Sabbath last to listen to i very sweet music discoursed by the | Baptist Choir, H. Atkinson, leader, and Miss Sallie Bishop as organist. '! lie choir had the use of an organ, tender ed by C. C. Truss, agent, and wo think wo would express the desire of a large majority of professors and church goers gouurally if we wore to say let us buy organs and have them regularly in our churches. Owen Nelson Institute, under the supervision of Prof. J. K. Arms;rong, has had seventy pupils in attendance during; tho Fall Session. Rev. M. 13. L. Bmion has connected himself with this institution as associate Principal, and the spring session will open with an experienced corps of educators whose cliglit is in the pursuit of their pro fession , hence success is sure. Gold Watches are not always cheap, even if secured for nothing. And now another section Ims been stricken from the I iiteenthfinicndiuont for hav ing stolen one from Mr. J. G. Parks. Like the brains of tho Negro there was something wrong about the watch, so he thought, and lie carried it to Mr. Stevens, jeweler, who had been fur nished with the make and No. by the loser He is now enjoying himsolf as criminals only can. It will not he accessary to institute a draft in order to get occupants for tho new jail. If we are correctly in foimed live repose there by tho order of Judge Harrell, sentenced for vari ous misdemeanors. One recruit sittco court, chargod, wo believe, with snap ping a pistol in tho breast of Article , Paragraph of tho Fifteenth Amendment, because said Amendment was wont to pull biled ’lasses with bis Dina. Poo Advertisement of District Male High School ia another column. The President of this institution has or dered the school furniture, comprising the most improved appurtenances for the comfort of the students, negotia tions for tho erection of the buildings are being made, and everything con nected therewith seems to be moving along with energy and harmony. Pro lessors Dodd & Dozier Principals, are in attendance with the South W. Gr. Conference, principally in the interest of this school. Cdf/“There is still a chance for you to get a good Sewing Machine. Old Machines taken in exchange for the Florence. I have secured the servi ces of Mr. E. W. Leeds, who will travel aud sell the Florence, and all contracts made by him will be faith fully carried out. Give him a chance to show you the Florence. Would as soon buy a Locomotive that would not ‘ back up” as a Sew ing Machine that would, not reverse. C. C. Tkuss. Friends of Temperance and others with a little surplus change can con tribute the same to a worthy cause viz : a Good Templar and Cold Water party, by handing the same to the fol lowing committees: Mrs. M. W Wood, Mrs. J. Morgan, Miss Fannie Lo-.less, Miss Pallia Norman, Miss Laura Smith, Dr. C. R. Moore, Mr A. J. Baldwin, Mr. J L. Janes, Mr. Ed. M. Weston. Committee for Good Templars. Miss Annie Halsey, Miss Alice Fur nuin, Miss Ella Persy, Mr. J. G. Parks, Mr. U. L. Weston. Master E. E. Cheatham, Master R. G. Harper. Committee for Cold Waters. In order to promote and encourage all branches of industry, and for the purpose of letting the raisers ot poul try know that their efforts in this res pect are appreciated,a premium of sl. is hereby offered for a turkey gobler, or 7,’cts. Tor a turkey hen ; 30cts. per lb for linn, yellow country butter, and 25ctsl per doz. for iresh lien’s eggs. This proposition is open to the world until tho evening of the Dec. SoiillDiii t'ircm amt ITlciiiigct ie By referring to our advertising col umns, it will be seen that this \ieli known circus will appear in our city on the afternoon and evening of Sat urday the 3! tli of this mouth. Os course every body and their respective families will"put in an appearance on the occasion, and thus testify their ap preciation of genuine talent, such as is seldom embodied in combinations of this kind. This, we believe to be ono of the most efficient orgoni/.utions now before the public, and combining with its other attractions, and under a sepa rate and distinct pavilion, a mammoth menagerie, certainly it must receive a libera? patronage. In its tour lrom Georgia to. Texas, this combination has realized a nut profit of over thirty thousand dollars this season, which information is certainly gratifying to us, as the troupe consists principally of natives to the manor born. We clip the above from the Macon Daily Citizen, and endorse it as fully' expressing what wo most dcsiie to eay. The grand free balloon ascen sion, and the gratuitous wire walking will occur prior to the afternoon ex hibition and as this is apt to bo the only entertainment of this sort the coming winter, vre look lor a good cro vvd. We regret tolcarn that on Monday night last, the former residence of Mr Thomas Nixon, of tiiis county, was burned. Mr. Nixon was using the house as a repository lor products of the farm, and we learn, had two bales more or less of cotton, a large amount of cotton seed and peas de stroyed. It was tho work ot an in cendiary. 110 is a hard working man I and deserves the sympathy cf tho community. Ahmed Gcaud.—A few persons last evening predicted that this morning, Conley would have an armed guard stationed ut tho entrances of the Sen ate und Representatives Chambers, to biing the session of Legislature to a dose.
