Small-Pox in Dawson. The ease of Varioloid reoorted in the person of Mr. j'arlton Vi ler is, as we are informed by the physician, doing well—is out of danger, and unless So ne unc nmnon change or complication takes place, may with safety, be dismissed from quarantine in a few days. The physician thinks there will be no futher spread of the disease, as at the time when Air. Aliller was quarantined his ease had not advanced io t ! at, stage when it is likely to infect others from ordinary exposure. Mr. MilLr, nor is physician, are certain as to how or when hi* contracted the disease. Think it probable that it- may have been through a suit of new clothes purchased a few weeks previous, or from coming in contact on she train wi*h some infect ed per on or art- •. • ■ •• r, or wraps. Who is there who would not be- a local editor? Fashion Notes. Myffins are of medium si?e. Sleeves are tigh er chan ever Rcpped fabrics are in high favor. Black dresses are as popular as ever- On! .ight furs are used for evening wear. Watered si’k—moire—is very fash ionable. Gold brocaded cap ribbons aro much worn. Medium-sized bonnets are not fash ionable. All dresses of woolen materials are cut short All the new bonnets are very small or very large. Yisite paletot is the name of the new est sty e wrap. Toques made of seal will be much worn this winter. Stockings are in mere bizarre, styles than ever before. Slashes at the elbow and at the top are seen on mauy Parasiau cress sleev es- All winter wraps and e'oaks, are very long, but very short jackets are also worn. Striped g r Js in Pekin si’k and satin or silk and moire are very fashionable. The clan tartan and Scotch plaid short costumes are the fancy of the passing moment. Satin, velve , moire, and gross faille are favorite combinations in composite costumes. St iped Peki-s and striped moires are in demand for parts of dressy cum posite costumes. Dresses, to be fashionable, must be very short in front, even when trained in the back. Leather buttons for county costumes, or “suits for the moorlands,’ are among the Londen dress novelties. The talma is anew mantle which is simply a revival of an old style, with the only difference of a tight back. The new.-'-t huftonsjire bullet shap ed. They are of colored pearl, jet, brass, steel, crochet, and fine porcelain. .Japanese designs appear on the sur face of silver and gilt hutton.s or in eb ony, gold, and silver buttons fer short costumes. Silk or spun silk stockings to match costumes are to be worn with black kid low shoes, with a strap across the instep and a steel buckle, but no bows. The largo beef-eater hat-', which are to be worn in New York this winter, have the brim rolled up on the left and trimmed with plumes, some bending for ward and some bending around the crown. j- .-'s Pft . .. i> ;iv sois. He has been stop ping in this place for the past few week s, during the time has visited Americus For three or four days ..previous to un seeing of him, had been a little sick. On last Wednesday morning T was firs' asked to see him and give my opinion in regard to an eruption which made its appearance during (benight previous. Upon examining the eruption, and hearing a description of his condition for three or four days previous,l feared he had smal!-"ox in some form, and wishing to avoid the excitement and confusion that usually follows the an nouncement of such -m opinion, with Lis consent and approbation, requested his host to quietly remove h'm to a se cluded room amf allow no intercourse with him by persons who had never had small-pox, to await the development of the next twenty-four hours. At the appointed time I again saw him, and the developments were su -h that I pro nounced his a case of Varioloid, (that is small-pox modified by previous genuine vaccination.) lie was at once removed to a proper place, and such quarantine regulations! adopted as will, in my opinion, prevent an - extension.of the disease. It is due Mr. Miller, and it affords me pleasure to make the statement, that he has at all times cheerfully acquiesced in any and all the means that I have suggested to prevent any further spread of the disease. He has been willing to do any and. every thing in his power to prevent the citizens ot Dawson and Terrell eounty from having any trouble or expense from his misfortunO. He deserves, and I doubt uot has, the sym pathy of all.
