Dear Bell. —Our commencement
exercises are over. I Lave rßeived
my diploma, and am now readp'to en

ttocie'y. A*tir>d becomingly in a pure
white robe, such as an angel might
love to wer, I took a prominent part
in the musical exercises in the even

severe cold a few days belore, I wcs
enabled by the use ol Coussens' Hon

world lor coughs, colds and all di

so well that I completely enraptured
a large audience. Tell Uncle John
that the use of that invaluable com

Love’s Lament.
From Ludden & Butes’ Southern
Music House, Savannah, Ga , we re
ceive their latest publication a charm
ing ballad by Jobn L Hardee, of Sa
vannah, which we deem worthy of
more than passing notice. Words of
tender, but not foolnh, sentiment, ex
pressing a lover’s regrets that not for
him again can bloom “love’s passion
flowers” linked to a melody that is in
itselft a lament over a “dream that is
done,” form a well nigh perfect song.
Mr. Hardee has written several suc
cessful songs, but this is conceded to
be his best yet. The publishers will
mail it postpaid on receipt of Unity
Cents, or it can bo had from any Mu
sic Dealer.
Whither are you bound ? said John
Moore, as be stood in the door-way
of his establishment, and saw his old
friend Sam Rogers walking slowly
past. The latter, with sunken eyes
and pallid visage, bearing evidences
of disease, hastened to reply. “I
have long suffered all the horrors aris
ing from an inactive liver, and am go
ing to the office of Dr. Slow to seek
relief.” ‘‘Do no such thing, said his
friend, when you can buy a bottle of
PortJine, Tabler’s Liver Regulator,
for only 50 cent 4, and be permanently
relieved. It will cure Dyspepsia,
Heartburn, Sour Stomach, Sick head
ache, and all disorders of a torpid liv
er.” Fox sale by Da. J, R. Janes &

THE GENUINE
DR. C. McLANE’S
CELEBRATED
LIVER PELLS,
FOR THE CURE OF
Hepatitis, or Liver Complaint,
DYSFEFSIA AND SICK HEADACHE.
Symptoms of a Diseased Liver.
PAIN in the right side, under the
edge of the ribs, increases on pres
sure; sometimes the pain is in the left
side; the patient is rarely able to lie
on the left side; sometimes the pain is
felt under the shoulder blade, and it
frequently extends to the top of the
shoulder, and is sometimes mistaken
for rheumatism in the arm. The
stomach is affected with loss of appe
tite and sickness; the bowels in gen
eral are costive, sometimes alternative
with lax; the head is troubled with
pain, accompanied with a dull, heavy
sensation in the back part. There .is
generally a considerable loss of mem
ory, accompanied with a painful sen
sation of having left undone some
thing which ought to have been done.
A slight, dry cough is sometimes an
attendant. The patient complains of
weariness and debility; he is easily
startled, his feet are cold or burning,
and he complains of a prickly sensa
tion of the skin; his spirits are low;
and although he is satisfied that exer
cise would be beneficial to him, yet
he can scarcely summon up fortitude
enough to try it. In fact, he distrusts
every remedy. Several of the above
symptoms attend the disease, but cases
have occurred where few of them ex
isted, yet examination of the body,
after death, has shown the lives to
have been extensively deranged.
AGUE AND FEVER.
Dr. C. McLane’s Liver Pills, in
cases of Ague and Fever, when
taken with Quinine, are productive of
the most happy results. No better
cathartic can be used, preparatory to,
or after taking Quinine. We would
advise all who are afflicted with this
disease to give them a fair trial.
For all bilious derangements, and as
a simple purgative, they are unequaled.
BEB ABE of imitations.
The genuine are never sugar coated.
Every box has a red wax seal on the lid,
with the impression L)k. McLane’s Liver
Pills.
The genuine McLane’s Liver Pills bear
the signatures of C. McLane and Fleming
Bros, on the wrappers.
Insist upon having the genuine Dr. C.
McLane s Liver Pills, prepared by Flem
ing Bros., of Pittsburgh, Pa., the market being
full of imitations of the name .Vc/le,
spelled differently but same pronunciation.

HOLLOWATTSPILLS.
Nervous Disorders.
What is more fearful than a breaking down
of the r /rvous system? To be excitable or
nervous in a small degree is most distressing
for where can a remedy be found? This is
one: drink but little wine, beer, or spirits,
or far better, none; take no coffee, weak
tea being preierablc; get all the fresh air
you can; take three or four Pills every
night; eat plenty of solids, avoiding the u.e
of slops; and if ttaeic golden rules are fo'-
lowed, you will be happy in mind and strong
in body, and forget you have any nerves.
Mothers and Daughters.
If there is one thing more than another
for wluch these Pills are so famous, it is their
purifying properties, especially their power
of clensing the blood from all impurities;
and removing dangerous and suspended
secretions. Universally adopted as the one
grand remedy for female complaints, they
never fail, never weaken the system, and
always bring about what is required.
Sick Headashes and Want of Appetite
These feelings which so sadden us, most
frequently at i.-e from annoynces or troHble,
from obstructed perspiration, 01 from eating
and driuking what is unfit for us, thus disor
dering the liver and stomaeh. These organs
must be regulated if you wish to be well.
The Pills, if taken according to the printed
instructions, will quickly restore a healthy
action to botb liver and stomach, whence
follow, as a na'ural consequence, a good ap
petite and a clear head. In the East and
West Indies scarcely any other medicine is
ever used for these disorders.
Dow to be Strong.
Never let the bowels be either confined or
unduly acted upon. It may appear singu
lar that Holloway's Pilis should be recom
mended for a run upon the bowels, many
persons supposing that they would increase
relaxation. This is a great mistake, howev
er; for these Pills will immediately correct
the liver and stop every kind of bowel com
plaint. In warm climates thousands of lives
have been saved by the use of this medicine
which, in all cases, gives tone and vigor to
the whole organic system, however derang
ed; health and strength following as a mat
ter of course. The appetite, too, is won
derfully increased by the use of these Pills,
combined in the use of solid in preference
to fluid diet. Animal food is better than
broths and stews. By removing acrid, fer
mented, or other impure homors from the
liver, stomach, or blood, the cause of dysen
lerv, diarrhoei, and other bowell complaints
is expelled. The result is, that the distur
bance is arrested, and the action of the
bowels becomes regular. Nothing will stop
the relaxation of the bowels so quickly as
thi3 flue correcting medicine.
Disorders of the Kidneys.
Iu all diseases affecting these organs,
whether they secrete too much nr too little
water: or whether they be afflicted with
stone or gravel, or with aches or pains set
tled in the loins over the regions of the kid
neys, these Pills should be taken accoiding
to the printed directions, and the Ointment
should be well rubbed iuto the small of the
back at bedtime. This treatment will give
almost immediate reli t when all means
have failed.
For Stomachs out of Order,
No medicine will so effectually improve
the tone of the stomach as these Pills; they
remove all acidity, occasioned either by in
temperance or improper diet. They reach
the liver and reduce it to a healthy action;
they are wonderfully efficacious in case of
spasms, in fact thev never fail in curiDg all
disorders of the liver and stomach.
Holloway’s Pills are the best remedy known
in the world tor the following diseases.
Ague, Asthma, Billious Complaints,
Blotches on the skin, Bowel Complaint,
Colics, Constipation of the Bowels, Con
sumption, Debility, Dropsy, Dyrentei v, Er
ysipelas, Fevers of all kinds, Fits, Gout,
