“It's very singular, infernal singular,
mused Dr. Bloggers, the other day.
“What’s singular? ’ asked another cem
etery enlarged. “Why, you know old
Mrs. Skimsom? Well, forty-five years
ago she ran a needle into her foot, and
—” “Exactly, and to-day,’’ put in
the otchr, “it came out of her elbow, I
suppose.” “No, it didn’t. It came
out of the back of her grandson’s head
that is what beats me.”

Love’s Lament.
From Luddeti & Hates’ Southern
Music House, Savannah, Ga , we re
ceive their latest publication a charm
ing ball ad t>y John L. Hardee, of Sa
vannah, which we deem worthy of
more than passing notice. Words of
tender, but not foolish, sentiment, ex
pressing a lover’s regrets that not for
him again can bloom “love’s passion
flowers” linksd to a melody that is in
itselft a lament over a “dream that is
done,” form a well nigh perfect song.
Mr. Hardee has written several suc
cessful songs, hut this is conceded to
be his best yet. The publishers will
mail it postpard on receipt of Thirty
Cents, or it can be had from any Mu
sic Dealer.
Y r es, 1 mn Proud of the Name-
Woman’s best Friend.
To relieve the aching heart of wo
men and bring joy wheresorrow reig
ned supreme, is a mission before which
the smiles of kings dwindle into utter
insignificance. To do this is the po
culiar province of Dr. J. Bradfield's
Female Regulator, which, from the
numberless cures it has accomplished,
appropriately styled Woman’s Best
Friend. The distressing complaint
known as the “whites,” and the vari
ous ii regularities of the womb, to which
woman is subject, disappear like mag
ic before a single "bottle of this won
derful compound. Ask y~ur(iiuggist
for it.

It will bo apparent to any cue, who

that aside from the necessary thickness
for engraving and polishing, a large

is needed only to stiffen nnd hold the

The suiplus gold is actually neodless

waste of precious me*al is overcome,
and tlm Same solidity and strength

of the usual cost of solid tasss. This
process >s of the most simple nature,
as follows: a plate of nickle composi

purpose, has two plates of solid gold
soldered one op each sido. The three
are then passed between polished
steel roileis, and the result is a strip
of heavily plated composition, from
which the cases, backs, centres, bez

ble dies and formers The gold in
these cases is suffic Stitly thick to ad

and enamelling; the engraved cases
have been earned until worn perfect

HOLLOWAY’S PILLS.
Nervous Disorders.
What is more feaiful than a breaking down
of the i' rvous system? To be excitable or
netvouß in a small degree is most distressing
for where can a remedy be found? This is
one; drink bat little wine, beer, or spirits,
or far better, none; take no coffee, weak
tea being preferable; get all the fresh air
you can; take three or four Pills every
nigh'; eat plenty of solids, avoiding the me
of slops; and if theie golden rules are fo 1 -
lowed, you will be happy in mind and strong
in body, and forget you have any nerves.
Mothers and Daughters-
If there is one thing more than another
for which these Pills are so famous, it is their
purifying properties, especially their power
of clensing the blood from all impurities;
and removing dangerous and suspended
secretions. Universally adopted as the one
grand remedy for female complaints, they
never fail, never weaken the system, and
always bring about what is required.
Sick Headashea and Want of Appetite
These feelings which so sadden ns, most
frequently at i.-e from annoynces or trouble,
from obstructed perspiration, ot from eating
and drinking what is unfit for us, thus disor
dering the liver and stomaeh, Theee organs
must be regulated if you wish to be well.
The Pills, if taken according to the printed
instructions, will quickly restore a healthy
action to both liver nnd stomach, whence
follow, as a natural consequence, a good ap
petite and a clear head. In the East and
West Indies scarcely any other mediciueis
ever used for these disorders.
Row to be Sttong.
Never let the bowels be either confined or
unduly acted upon. It may appear singu
lar that Holloway's Pills should be recom
mended for a run upon the bowels, many
persons supposing that they would increase
relaxation. This is a great mistake, howev
et; for these Pills will immediately correct
the liver and stop every kind of bowel com
plaint. In warm climates thousands of lives
have been saved by the use ot this medicine
which, in all cases, gives tone and vigor to
the whole organic system, however derang
ed; health and strength following as a mat
ter of course. The app.tite, too, is won
derfully increased by the use of these Pills,
combined in tbe use of solid in preference
to fluid diet. Animal food is better than
brotljs and stews. By removing acrid, fer
m uted, or other impure homors from the
liver, stomach, or blood, the cause of dysen
terv, diarrl-oe', and other bowell complaints
is expelled. The result is, that the diatur
bance is arrested, and the action of the
bowels becomes regular. Nothing will stop
the relaxation of the bow?l9 so quickly as
this fine correcting medicine.
Disorders of tbe Kidneys.
In all diseases affecting these organs,
whether they secrete too much or too little
water: or whether they be afflicted with
stone or gra'rel, or with aches or pains set
tlea in the loins over the regions of the kid
neys, these P.lis should betaken accoiding
to the printed directions, and the Ointment
should be well rubbed into the small of tbe
back at bedtime. This treatment will give
almost immediate rcli t when all mean3
have failed.
For Stomachs out of Order,
No medicine will so effectually improve
the tone of the stomach as these Pills; they
remove all acidity, occasioned either by in
temperance or improper diet. They reach
ihe liver and reduce it to a healthy action;
they are wonderfully efficacious in case of
spasms, in fact they never fail in earing all
disoidersof the liver and stomach.
Holloway’s Pills are the best remedy known
in the world for the f llowiug diseases.
