“Ilio” writes from Cedar Creek
to the Newi.an Herald as follows
“We cannot refrain from telling of
an incident that occurred at one of
the neighbor’s. A tramp called and
asked forsomething to eat. The lady
furnished what he wished, for which
she charged him fifteen cents. lie
handed her a fifty dollar hill to get
her to change. She took the hill and
placed it in her pocket, and asked
him at the same time what he meant
by handing her such a large bill to
get so small an amount as fifteen
cents, telling him she would send for
some of her neighbors and have it
changed. lie saw the lady was de
termined, and commenced to beg for
the money, with promises to give her
the change and never treat another
lady in like manner again. She fin
ally made him give her five dollars,
which she appropriated to charitable
purposes. She thinks he had several
rolls of money, besides a pocket that
seemed to contain a quantity of sil
ver. He was shabbily dressed, and
had the appearance of a ‘veritable
tramp.’ Better not trifle with these
Southern women.’’
We have been informed that the
“Rev. Jacob Donaway” (col.) a Bap
tist divine of much prominence, actu.
ally heat his horse to death, while
hitched to a buggy in the road, near
this place, last Friday. The horse
would not go, and it so riled the rev
erened gentleman that he got out of
the buggy, and, taking a fence rail,
be killed him with it .—Buena Vista

A gentleman traveling on a train of
cars, recently, said to the conductor:
“Suppose the hrakers should give way
where would we go to?” The conductor
remarked that it was impossible for
them to give way. But the gentleman
again asked the same question, when
the conductor replied: “It is all owing
to what your past life has been.’

CASE OF COL. J. C. BRANSON.
Kinuston, Ga , September 15, 1871.
Gknts: —For 16 years I have been a great
sufferer from Scrofula in its most distressing
forms. I have been confined to my room
and bed for 15 years with scrofulous ulcera
tions. The most approved remedies for
such cases bad been used, and the most
eminent physicians consulted, without any
decided benefit. Thus prostrated, distressed
desponding, I was advised by Dr. Aye r , of
Fioyd county, Ga , to commence the use of
vnur Compound Extract Stillingia. Language
is as insufficient to describe the relief I ob
tained from the use of the Stillingia as is to
convey an adequate idea of the intensity of
my suffering before using your medicine;
sufficient to say, I abandoned all other rem
edies arid continued the use of your Extract
of Stillingia, until 1 can say truly, “I am
cured of pain,“ of all disease, with notbiug
to obstruct the active put suit of my profes
sion. More than eight months have elapsed
since this remarkable cure, without any re
turn of (he disease.
For the truth of the above statement I
refer to any gentleman of Bartow county,

A MIRACLE.
West Point, Ga , Sept. 15, ftt'l
GENTS:-My daughter was taken on th>- 25th
day of June, 1863, with what was Buppo.— and
to be Acute Rheumatism, ar.d was tisated
for the same with no success. In .Yard,
following, pieces of bone began to work
out of the right arm, and continued to ap
pear till all the bone from the elbow to the
shoulder joint came out. Many pieces of
hone came out of the right, foot and leg.
The case was then pronounced one of White
Swelling. After having been cot, fined about
six years to her bed, and the case considered
hopeless, I was induced to try Dr. PembeT
tou’s Cumpoun 1 Extract of Stillingia, and
was so well satisfied with its effects that I
have continued the ue of it until now.
My daughter was confined to her bed
about six years before she sit up or even
turned over without help. She now sits up
all day and sews most o' her time, has walk
ed across the room. Her general health is
now good, and I believe she will, vs her
limbs gain strength, walk well. I attribute
her recoveiy, .with the blessing of God, to
the use of your valuable medicine.
With gratitude, I am, yours truly,

HOLLOWATCPILLS.
Nervous Disorders.
What is more fearful than a breaking down
of the r rvous system? To be excitable or
nervous in a small degree is most distressing
for where can a remedy be found? This is
one: drink but little wine, beer, or spirits,
or far better, none; take no coffee, weak
tea being preterable; get all the fresh air
you can; take three or four Pills every
night; eat plenty of solids, avoiding the u.e
of slops; and if these golden rules are fo~
lowed, you will be happy in mind and strong
in body, and forget you bave any nerves.
Mothers and Daughters.
If there is one thing more than another .
tor which these Pills are bo famous, it is their |
purifying properties, especially their power !
of clensing the blood from all impurities;
and removing dangerous and suspended j
secretions. Universally adopted as the one !
grand remedy for female complaints, they
never tai l , never weaken the system, and
always bring about what is required.
Sick Headauhes and Want of Appetite
These feelings which so sadden ns, most
frequently arise from annoynces or trouble,
from obstructed perspiration, ot from eating
and drinkiDg what is unfit for us, thus disor
dering the liver and storaaeh. These organs
must be regulated if you wish to be well.
The Pills, if taken according to the printed
instructions, will quickly restore a healthy
action to both liver and stomach, whence
follow, as a na'ural consequence, a good ap
petite and a clear head. In the East and
West Indies scarcely any other medicine is
ever used for these disorders.
How to be Strong.
Never let the bowels be either confined or
unduly acted upon. It may appear singu
lar that Holloway's Pills should "be recom
mended for a run upon the bowels, many
perrons supposing that they would increase
relaxation. This is a great mistake, howev
er for these Pills will immediately correct
the liver and stop every kind of bowel com
plaint. In warm climates thousands of lives
have been saved by the use of this medicine
which, in all cases, gives tone and vigor to
the whole organic system, however derang
ed; health and strength following as a mat
ter of course. The apprtite, too, is won
derfully increased by the use of these Pills,
combined in the use of solid in prelerence
to fluid diet. Animal food is better than
broths and stews. By removing acrid, fer
m nted, or other impure humors from the
liver, stomach, or blood, tbe cause of dysen
terv, diarrheas, and other bowell complaints
is expelled. The result is, that the distur
bance is arrested, and the action of the
bowels becomes regular. Nothing will stop
the relaxation of the bowels so quickly as
thi3 fine correcting medicine.
Disorders of the Kidneys.
In all diseases affecting these organs,
whether they secrete too much or too little
water: or whether they be afflicted with
stone or gravel, or witli aches or pains set
tled in the loins over the regions of the kid
neys, these P.lis should be taken accotding
to tbe printed directions, and tbe Ointment
should be well rubbed into the small of the
back at bedtime. This treatment will give
almost immediate reli i when all means
have failed.
For Stomachs out of Order,
No medicine will so effectually ; mptove
the tone of the stomach #s these Pills; they
lemove all acidity, occasioned either by in
temperance or improper diet. They reach
the liver and reduce it to a healthy action;
they are wonderfully efficacious in case ot
spasms; in fact thev never fail in caring all
disorders of the liver and stomach.
Holloway’s Pills are the best remedy known
in the world lor tbe following diseases,
Ague, Asthma, Billious Complaints,
Blotches on the skin, Bowel Complaint,
Colics, Constipation of the Bowels, Con
sumption, Debility, Dropsy, Dyrentery, Er
