The Yan,Who Has Not Shaved Sinee
- 1860 Tuarns Up.
From the Philadelphia Times.
A tall, broad-shouldered man of
apparently fifty-five yvears, walked
into Binder's Seventh street bar
ber shop on Saturdey afternoon
and seated himself in a chair. A
Leavy black beard covered his
face and his shirt front and was
finally lost to sight within the ca
pacious recesses of his waiscoat.
“Hair cut, sir?” said the barber,
as he began to tuck a towel around
the collar of his eunstomer, prelim
inary to picking up his shears.
The old man, who had been busy
with his beard during this inter
val, now exposed it to the aston
ished gaze of the shop. It reach
ed fully three inches below his
knees when it was uncoiled. He
replied: “No, but”—here he glanc.
ed around the shop with a trium
phant smile—“l want this beard
taken off clean.” Apparently see
ing that some explanation would
Lie weleome to the astonished gath
cring of barbers and customers,
the old man said in tones that
ghowel the emotion stirring with
i him:
“For twenty-four years no ra

board is the result. It was in 1860,
I was as spruce a yourg chap as
ever kicked up his heels at a Lan

body knew young Joe Barstow

“One night I made a speech at
a meeting in the old Turnpike
Tavern. I hada week's growth »f

lout sang ouf, ‘Go gt a shave.
Everybody laughed ws they look

‘no razor touches my face until I
see a Democratic President in the
White House.’
“I have kept my word. Tuke it
off and roll it carefully up in a
piece of paper, barber, for I ain

Statement of Mr.Benj.F.Hearndon:
Early in November, 1881, while sewing on th.
machine, my wife was taken with a severe paiy
in her side, which was xoon followed by hemos
rhages from her lungs and a severe cough,
Fever commenced, she could neither eat nog
sleep, and in a few woeks she was reduced to a
Hving skeleton., The attending physician told
¥e that he thonzht one of her fimgs was en
tirely gone. She could not retain the most
delicate nourisiznent on her stomach. I then
agreed with r. Sullivan, my family physiclan,
to call Dr. Holloway in consultaiion, 'The
made a final examination of the patient, ung
pronounced the case hopeless, Dr. Uolloway
then sugrestad tho Erewor's Lung Destorer as
& last resort. 1 sent fora bottle, a |l rave her
& dose. T found tlat she could retuin it cn her
stomach, aud after chout the third doze 1 beran
to notice some improy oment in her condition.
I continued the medicine regniarly, and by the
tima she had takes two bottles glie was ablate
walk about ile housc. Sho i nov in better
health than sha Lo < enjoyed for several yonPrs.
I believe tho Lung Festorer saved her life,
