3 Children’s Day in Dawsou.
~ Hundreds of Sabbath-schools
throughout the United States were
engaged last Sabbath in the
celebration of this day, which has
already become an important fac
tor in the missionary work of our
churches, thousands of dollars be
ing now annually raised in this
way and applied to the dis
tribution of Sabbath-school litera
ture and to tue building up of
‘Sabbath-schools in the destituto
places of our land.
In accordanee with the pro
gramme published last week the
day was celebrated in a very in
teresting and becoming wanner
by the Baptist Sabbath-school of
this place. The “Little Willing
Workers,” numbering about forty
childrven, under the direction of
Mrs. B. H. Hood, were engaged
in the exercises, all of whom
seemed fully to understand the
importance of the occasion and
to throw their whole souls into
the beautiful songs and appropri
ate recitations which had been
assigned them. Towards the ‘
close the object of the exercises
was briefly stated by Dr. J. G.
Dean, after which about a dozen
little girls, with baskets in hand,
gave a!l an opportunity to throw
a dime into the “missionary box,”
resulting in the raising of a very
nice sum. The exercises were ‘
quite pleasant throughout and ‘
highly enjoyed by the large crowd
present. To the zealous efforts
of Mrs. Hood and the “Little Wil
ling Workers” all are indebted
for the pleasure of the oceasion.
Children’s Day at Williford's Mill.

class recitations, was arranged ‘
and admirably executed. A large
company was present and showed
their hearty approciation of the
good things by their respectfuli
and admiring attention to all parts
of the exercises. Rev. A. M. Wil
liams, of Dawson, was present and |
delivered an appropriate address. |
The singing was very good indeed. |
After the exercises at the arbor
the schools and guests formed in
procession and marched to the ta- ‘
bles, filled with all manner of good
things, in the grove near Willi-‘
ford’s store. The afternoon was
devoted to the amusement of the
children. The day will be lung{
remembered by the people who
were present. ‘
The Sunday-Sehool Banner.
The formal awarding of the
Sunday-school bauner to the
Cross Roads school was postponed,

Sanday afternoon. The banner
will be a beautiful one. 1t is of
red satin on one side and blue on
the other with gilt cord and tas
sels and made by Mrs. C. L. Mize.
The lettering and designing is the
work of Prof. M. A. Ware and is
exquisite in its execution. The
thanks of the Sunday-schools of
the county are due to Prof. Ware
and Mrs. Mize, who have done
this excellent work without other
remuneration than their love of
the cause and characteristic clev
erness.

Two Smal'l Boys Leave Home,
A few mornings since G}Eland,
the eight-year-old son of 'W. G.
Statham, and Frank, the eight
year-old son of Mrs. S. V. Hester,
of this city, left home without the
knowledge of their parents for a
visit in Stewart coanty. A few
months ago Mrs. Hester moved
with her family from Stowart
county to Dawsep, and Mr. Stat

county with his little son visiling
relatives. The morning the boys
left, Garland was at Mrs. Heste:’s
playing with Frank. Taking a
‘notion that they would like to s2e
their Stewart county playmatas
and friends, the boys began teas
ing Mrs. Hester to let them go.
Becoming tired of being worried,
Mrs. Hester said: “Go along and
let me alone.” The boys mistook
the meaning of Mrs. Hester's
words and immediately set out a
foot and alone for Mr. Wm. Over
by’s, a distance of twenty-five
miles, where they were found the
next day by Mr. Statham and
brought home. They made the
trip 1n about eight hours.

- PUBLIC attention is called to the merits of White Bronze, the best material know

NEWORLEANS EXPOSITION
NEW( ANSE ‘
Less than fifteen years ago the manufacture of White Bronze monuments was began ja
this country, and such is the increasing dem ind for them that already thers are seveses

‘ and over 2,0000 monuments have been sold.
White Bronze is made of refined zine, pure as gold or silver can be made, and is prae
lticany indestructible, Monuments made of this material wiil not blacken or rust, or
beeome dingy with age; neither will moss adhere to, or grow upon their surface l:a
on marble, and the color will forever remain unchangeable. Age will not impair
beauty, while marble and granite will crumble to atoms.
