Nov 1st, 188U. T. M. ITarris. How Watches are Made. It will he apparent lo any one, who will examine a Solid Gold Watch, that aside from the necessary thickness for engraving and polishing a large propor tion of tlie precious metal used, is nee ded only to stiffen and hold the engrav ed portions in place, and supply the necessary solidity and strength. The surplus gold is actually needless so far ns utility and beauty arc concerned. In James Boss’ Patent Gold Watch Cases, this waste of precious metal is overcome, and tlie same solidity and strength produced at from one-third to one-half of the usual cost of solid cases. This process is of the most simple na ture, as follows: A plate ot iiickle ((imposition metal, espenially adapted lo the purpose, has two plates of solid gold soldered on each side. The three then passed between polished slee gins at the low well to call at R. and examine our stock before purchasing else where. THIGPEN BROS.
