Mr. George S. Brush, president of
the Manhattan artesian well com
puny, has just closed a ^qfttract
with the city of Brunswick for a
well. The contract is $3 per foot
for the first 500 feet and 50 cents
per foot for each 100 feet in excess
pf 500 up to GOO and so on.

ments of the members of Hamilton
Lodge, No. 58 F. A. M., on the occas
ion of the dcatli of our esteemed
brother W. Levin Taylor, beg leave
to report: Resolved,
That in the death of Brother Tay
lor, Hamilton Lodge 1ms sustained
the loss of a member who by his walk
and conversation practically illus
trated the tenets of Masonry in con
formity to time honored usage.
Asa man and citizen, he reflected
honor upon our county, by his hon
esty, manliness, benevolence without
ostentation, and high integrity.
As ft hushnud and father, he was
exemplary,sustaining that patriarch
ial relation toward his loved ones
which his deep religious sentimeut
evoked. To his bereaved family
Hamilton Lodge extends her sincere
condolence.
In token of respect for oyr deceased
brother, the Lodge w ill w'car the us
ual badge of mourning for thirty
days, and have his name and age and
(lay of death as well as a record
of these proceedings inscribed upon
her minute book and a copy of the
same transmitted by the Secretary

Sister Plmnetta Sheppard who fell
asleep in Jcsuson thepveningof Jan. 18th
1884 in the 79th year of her ago and 45
yonrs a member of the church.
She joined Sisters Church in the year
1839 and was baptized by Bro. Asa Dug-
gnn who, but a few years ago, passed
over the river of death and stands on the
butiful shore to welcome her homo to
God the Farther and to be with Jesus
forovormoro.
She continudd a consultant and faith
ful member of tho same church until the
day of her death, she always cherished
a lively and prayerful interest for its wel-
foro.
She was perfectly resigned to death,
and remarked a few hours before she
died that site was ready and willing to
go nipl that she hoped it would be, Gods
will po tako her to himself before another
day aqd sure enough it wns Gods will to
remove her from this world of affliction
and trouble; prior to that time. Hence
she has gone to that upper and better
world, to heaven; where there is no sin,
sorrow, pain, nor death, where ull is joy
and peace forevermore.
Resolved 1st. That we, as a church,
yield submissvely to the will of God who
cannot err, that our loss is nothing com
pared to her great gain. But let us em
ulate her example in fidelity and love to
wards God and our Lord Jesus Christ,
and labor to bo ready and waiting when
the Master shall call us from this world
of sin and trouble, to tho homo beyond
the skies where all is pure and holy.
Resolved ‘2nd. That we tender the
sorrowing family and relatives our deep
est sympathy and condolence in this sore
trial, the loss of a mother how groat.
