number of these ranges sold in the .Shite,

We learn that Mr, S. ('. Honk, Superin

his headquarters to Saudersville, (ia, Mr.
Iiouk and his men employed as canvass
ers, have been stopping here with Captain
Austin for die past six mouths—or there
abouts, and it is due to him and them to
say that a more genteel, upright tuaitly-
gentlemanly set of clever fellows are not to
tie found anywhere. We never have heard
a word said against one of them, but on the
('outran they are highly spoken of by all
with w I mm they have c, me u contact.
They have sold over 5U0 ranges since
they came to this vicinity, and in no in
st, nice have we ever heard of a single com,
plaint being made—or that die ranges had
not given entire satisfaction in every par
ticular, they being used in hotels, by merch
ants, farmers and all other classes.
We commend Mr. Iiouk, and the men
under Him, to die kindly consideration o(
tile people of Saudersville, and community,
as being in every respect w orthy of their
confidence and esteem. Our only regrets
are that we w ill have to part with them.
The best wishes of die Repoiiier will go
with them to their new lield of labors.

Fiuend Mo:
Y’ou and I have lived to see anoth
er year set in, wc have lived to see
a Democratic president elected
whether we nro hero to know of his
inauguration or not. January *f
the new year tlnds us a yoar older
in experience aud hard work. Our
consciences are about as transparent
as the common run, if we have any
ill feeling toward our fellow-man it
is just because they richly deserve it,
wo are not candidates lor any officu,
we can lie down at night aud sleep
without a narcotic, while our diges
tive apparatus is not the best our
appetites are keen. Wc arc free
traders, if a man in Europe or J/cx
ico can soil us provisions, clothes or
gunpowder cheaper than the Aincr
icans why we believe lie has the
right to do it. Tlntl's us. Randall,
Carlisle, Morrison, Waterman and
that crowd may got that up a split
ia the democratic party, but we ox
poet to look out for No. 1. But Me
I'm mighty split up and bewildered
over our county election matters.
I toll you wIiuI'b a fact, they must
have raised the wages Tax gather
ing in the Inst legislature. If any
body knows how 1 am going to vote
next Thursday they know more
about my business than 1 do. They
ai'e the cleverest set of candidates
for the number I reckon ever forced
themselves upon the public. There
are nine of’em, running for receiver
und out 01 that number nine of ’em
say they are dead sure of getting iu
under the string ahead. Now there
arc 8 of that number laboriug under
a hallucination or something of that
kind, don’t you know it ? There
are 5 or 0 wanting to be collector
and I actually wish there was a
special paragraph in the statute al
lowing us that number of collectors,
allowing ’em so much a head. Pin
out for Coroner, They must think
that for the next two years there’s
going to be an immense amount of
dying from accident and on purpose
use of these calls for sympathy
from being almost blind, another
from being the father of a large
household and two for
having just recently been married.
I’ve been wondering huroof late, who
was the most' deserving of those 4—
I’m sorter inclined in my sympathy
to the two latter,—I’m going to vote
for those two. Then there are two
mighty clever men running for Slier-
ill', clover fellows, and all 3 of us be
long to the snnio church You see
I’ve tangled up again. If ever I get
to legislature again, elections in Ga.
will be every 30 years, and then it
shall lie tile duty 01 the Governor to
appoint. Yours,
Randall Franklin.
