INCIDENTS KEEATED BY
COLONEL I.ANOIIIADE OF
NANDEUSVILLE.
Sandebsvillk Ga. January 22.—
[Special ]—There is no man in San-
dei'sville with whom those having
spare moiucuts can spend the same
more pleasantly than with Col. K. Si.
Langmade. There was a time when
the Colonel would have made a good
pliysieuu—when, if he hud been a
pruelisiug phyaicau, lie could have
gotten up a hooiu tor himself. Il
came uheut in this way: Mr. Ken
drick, eon-in-law of Coionul La ng-
rnude, nud now a successful educator
iu Clayton Alahama, was seized
with blei.diug from the mouth and
nose. For three days tlie bleeding
was profuse. At the expiration oi
that time thu physicans in attend
mice—one m which was thu celebra
ted Dr. Hcutz, brother of Caroline
Lee Hontz—announced that every
known remedy bud b- eu tried in vain
and that death wus inevitable. After
the dcpui'tuie of the physicuns Cql.
Langmade Ijegna to reason about the
mutter, and it occured to him that
the flow was causd by the breaking
looso in some way the small arteries
leading tu the uose, and being famil
iar with thu properties of aluinu
and tannin, it oceured to him to
make a solution of these for injection
up tlie uose. lie imjnodiatcly sent
for Dr. Hcutz, to whom he announ
ced the result of his reflections,
which, after some hesitation, the doe
tor assented to. The solution was
prepared, the injection made, and
relief was instantnnious; nud after
many years there lias been no return
of tile bleeding.
"Yes” said the colonel “if you or
your friends ever sulfur from similar
nlflictious don't fail to try my aluinu
and tannin.”
ANOTHER 81NOl-l.AU CASK.
Speaking of another singular ease
tliat came under his observation, tlie
colonel said: -1 knew a young man
who swallowed, by accident, a cop
per cent, which lodged law down in
the throat. All ulforts by phyienns
to dislodge the sumc proving inef
fectual, the young man being un
able to swallow solid food, and being
fed by absorption of liquids, finally,
after sutiering with the obstruction
iu tlie throat for a year, the young
man coughed up the copper, which,
on inspection, was found to he full
of holes, supposed to have been
caused by die acid of thu suffcrc’s
stomach.”
AS TO 5L’I>DKN DEATHS.
Speaking of sudden deaths, the
colnwl said: “I never know of but
one ense among tlie lower animals
of sudden dentil from heart disease.
My eldest brother hud at his homo
some beautiful pigeons which were
very gentle. "One, apparently in
perfect health, suddenly droppd in a
fiight around tlie house. We all pro
sullied tliat tile Idl'd had swallowed
a [dn, or something of tlie kind, hut
on dissecting the same, it appeared
tliat death was caused by dropsy of
tlie heart, which was enveloped iu a
watery sack about the size of a
guinea's agg."

A LIFE INSL'KANCE THAT
tOL DU NOT HAVE TO DIE
TO WIN
From The Sparta lehmelile.
The Mutual Solf-Endowiuct, which
ih being l-epreauned here by Dr. A. E.
UeGurity is the most ntractive, feas
ible and practical plan of insurance
we have ever seen. It insures for $5-
000 and pays $1000 or one-fifth oftlic
amount at the end of each one-fifth
of your expectancy. In addition to
this it begins to advance you
amounts say $100 is from six months
to six years, aeeording to age, from
date of policy aeeording to age.— It
differs nothing from tlie Legion of
honor or the Royal Arcanum except
tliat it pays a part and they thu whole.
The ussestineuts are the same. One
great beauty about it is, it will run
itself after you have paid out from $40
to$150. In fact it will not only run
its jlf, but will furnish means to run
you foul I $10,000 iu other orders.
Dr. McGarity will ho in our city the
balance of this week, lie is stopping
at the Edwards House nud will take
great pleasure iu explaining his plan
toirui and everybody. All who in
sure while l* is here will got tlie ben
efit of charter members. We at first
thought the plan was too good to be
true hut on a thorough investigation,
are perfectly satisfied with it. We
advise all who want au insurance to
Lake a policy in this company.
The above is taken from the Sparta
IshiBidite and cxpluiues itself.
Dr. A. E McGarity called on us
a st week and allowed us tlie working
of his company, and we think it one
of the best to insure in we have seen.
In this Mutual Self Endowment Com
pany a man don’t have to die to win.
Dr. McGarity is sloping at tlie Gil
more House and will tuke pleasure in
in giving all who wisli to insure, any
nformntion they wish, ou the subject
of life insurance.
