WHAT HE IS doing IN CHATTANOOGA.
From the Times.
The great trouble with preachers
in this good day is that they are so
elegant that they always refer to hell
as the “burnt district." This sort
ol dignity is the starch of a shroud.
One preacher said to me once: “Jones
if I preached as plain us you I’d lose
my religion." 1 replied: “If I preach
ed like you I’d lose my congrega
tion." There is not a man in Chat
tanooga who doesn’t have family
prayers that has got as lmu'lijreligioii
as a goat. I don’t want to hear from
you old humbugs who belong to tbe
church and don’t have family pray
ers. Of course you’ll go otf and
you don’t like some things I’ve said.
Some say this book is not the
"'ord of God. I’ve never seen a town
Christian than you can fly, and the
church member who says his church
docs not oppose these things, you tell
a lie as black as hell!
The women have much to do with
this great wrong. Its society-society
docs so and sc—an i some people will
goto hell with society. There is not
a society woman in Chattanooga who
dosen’t know that she’s got to get
out of society before she can get to
Iii-nvet. A woman cant lie a Chris

room is tlio devil's own territory.
