A FRIEND.
We copy the following detailed
nnd homely account of the Hon.
Samuel J. Randal from our esteem
ed contemporary, the Cleveland
Lender nud Ileruld:
“Randall seems to he cultiva
ting the commonplace Democratic
air and Ids dress is now plainor
than that of Holman. IIo wears a
50 ct. straw hut, n$25 suit of bus
iness clothes, and his boots are
thicker than those lie uses in win
ter. IIo iu evidently posing for
1888.”
There is nothing particularly i c*
ticeable about this costume except
tho soles of tho boots. A tifty-cent
hat is extravagant when good hats
can be bought in tho country for ten
cents- A $25 snitof clothes is whol
ly unnecessary when suits aro daily
advertised for $12 and $11. But the
boots wo don t understand. Proba
bly Mr - Randall has concluded always
to wear thick soled boots, and has
begun now.
In regard to posing for 1888,
however, the Leader is perfectly
just. Mr. Randall is always posing
himself and his friends with the
purpose of advancing the cause ot
true Domocrncy for 1888, and all
subsequent years besides,
