Our boys met the Millcdgcville

Tuesday on the homo grounds, and
was pronounced by all who witnessed
it ns being the finest game over

to the bat und lead off with two, runs,
the visitors received a goose egg. On
the second our boys ad-le I two more
to their score, making four; the vis

clubs had goose eggs charged up to
them. On the fourth the home hoys
scored one while tho visitors got
another blank. Goose eggs were
given to both sides on the fifth and
nnd sixth innnings. Ou the seventh
our boys received another blank ond
the visitors, through some costly er

scored four runs making n tie five
each. Wo were ngaln goose egged

NOTES ON THE DI AMOND
Wooten is n line pitcher.
Jones, of tho home team, is n splen
did pitcher. While he does not pitch
a very deep cutvo yet whenever he
is hit they always knock lltllo pop
flies and are caught out.
Snndcrsvillo has as good fielders
ns any amateur nine in tho State.
Next year the boys will organize
a stock company and cliargo admis
sion at tho gate.
Lawrence is a fine catcher but be
longs to the Entonton club nnd was
borrowed by the Mlltodgevillo club
to play our boys. Our club played
home boys altogether.
Wc have to play against the entire
country on the Georgia R. R. when
ever we play n club. That shows
that they fear our boys.
The Mtlledgevillo boys were very
gentlemanly in their deportment hero
nnd were free from Kicking on the

rather than to disappoint the Sparta
club which camo upon them so un

give them a game anyway, although
they went upon the field feoliug that
they would bo beaten. Sparta has
a fine club. We liopn our regular

Ellafuir E. Salter, wife of Burien Sal
ter in tho 37th yea*- of hor age.
Again has the dark shaddowfallen.
The family circle is shrouded in
gloom. Sorrow and silence reigns iu
the household. Iu thnt bereaved ami
stricken family the name of wife and
mother is spoken in whispers and in
tears. No oceasion is more sorrow
ful than when n mother has finished
her life’s work; when sha filds lior
bunds in their final repose. No grief
more bitter, no life more sad and sol
itary than when a wifo departs nnd
leaves a bowed and broken hearted
husband to pursue life's journoy
aloue. No mourning more profound
no heart more crusuud aiul broken
than the father and mother who
weep ovor tho grave of a beloved nnd
idlleotionnto daughter; and mingle
their tears with the orphan children
she left bohind. No loss, no berenv-
meut like that which childred suffer
in the death of. a mother.
The death of Mrs Salter was in
many respects remark ible. Her firm
and unshaken faith, her bright and
beautiful testimony to tho truth of
divino help iu tlio hour of need, hor
Christian resignation, hor ponco nnd
composure in view of death, ult make
it wonderful aud full of consolation
to hor friends. It was remarkable
ulsoin that slio had a clear piosenti-
mout of hor death months before it
occured. Frequently and confident
ly she spoke of it to hor family and
friends, nnd calmly and quietly she
made full preparation for it, although
to humau scorning she was in perfect
health. With her owu lmuds she
prepared her buiial clothes aud fold
ed them away to bo ready wheu the
occasion camo. Every thing had
been thought of and urrungo.l by hor.
1’hore was no hurry, no confusion
when sha died, she had prepared
all “against her burial;” even to tbe
slightest details bad beeu attended to.
She gave lior full diruotions about

requested that her pastor Elder T.
