Killed by Cars.
Midville, Ga., July 10,—This morn
ing Mrs. John 1). Ashton was aboard
Jesse Thompson A Co.’s luinhcT train
coming to midville, on route lor
Waynesville. A coupling gave way,
and Mrs. Ashton was thrown oil'be
tween the rails. Three ears passed
over her, injuring her so that she
died in an hour and a half.
It always causes sad feelings when
we read an article like this in the
paper; but when it is an esteemed
friend, one loved in childhood as was
Mrs. Ashton, we are sad indeed:
She was an old room mate, and one
ol a lovable disposition; her name
recalls many fond rccolections of the
happy past, and 1 truly regret that
she should thus suddenly be called
from her loved ones. May they
look lo God and follow their fond
mother to a better world,
A FRIEND.

Building np Ladles Forms.
Clara Bello went to one of the most
fashionable New York dressmakers, and
asked her to state frankly whether it was
or wn.s not common to "build up, or

“Oh, my, yes,” tho artist replied, “but
not in the way that is generally supposed.
There is a current libel against our sox
that we pad our busts. The truth is, I
solemnly assure you, that such a thing is
not deno more than ono in twouty, on
the average, simply because it is not
needed. The dosiro to swell like a pigeon
is not common in tho female breast, and
I hear more oomplaiut of too much in

trouble with female forms, as every
dressmaker knows, is irregularity. The
number of women whoso two sides

sometimes tlie wholo figure is awry.
Perhaps men are misshapen, but, if so.
their clothing is not such ns to reveal

I do when nbout to fit a dress, is tr
critically examine the sliapo of till

She beoomes delusive, but- fur more
