The State Supremo Court has ren
dered a very important decision
which is destined to arouse consid
erable excitement among till diffe
rent churches. The Court decides
that not only are rectories and par
sotmges liable to tnkalion, but it
declares that, any legislation ex
empting such property would be un
constitutional. The decision sub
jects to taxation vast amount of
property in the State, which lias
always heretofore bceu exempt. It
is said that, in the city of Augusta
alono. property to the value of
$100,000 will be added to the tax
lists by this ruling. And there is
no rebut or remedy except by an
unit mtnient to the State Constitu
tion,
