Pearson went over to his place Tuesday after some goods. Cottage prayer meeting Tuesday night was held at Mr. Allens. Wes and Fred are working on Wes’ house, getting ready for winter. Nearly everybody in this vicinity took in the show parade Tuesday. Several Coffey county people were at Mrs. Gaffs Monday night. Rev. Fuller, of Abbeville, preached at Wolf Pit Sunday evening. We understand that Rev. McGregor sold his .50 acres to John and Ben Colwell. Aunt La m g Blood is still on the sick list, but is some better at this writing. A gentleman from north Georgia was at S. S. Gaffs Thursday night on his way home from Florida. Several of the young people were at Mat Kettles Friday night to a taffey pulling, but had no taffy to pull. Clarence Hogle said lie was at Nor¬ man Dormineys on business Friday night. Ta, ta, Clarence, that will do to tell. Boss Cooper and Sammy are work¬ ing down below Dorminey’s Mill for M. Dickson and Jack Dorminey at their saw mill. Messrs. Carney and Henton finished up their job of sawing Thursday and pulled stakes for their next set west of New Field church. There is another boat being built in this neighborhood. The ship yard is at Dwight Foxworthys. Messrs. Fox¬ worthy, Dunbar and Smith are the builders and proprietors. They will have it done for the raise of Otter creek when the spring rains come. We have not learned the name or what points it will connect. Will report later on. The Boy With One Eye Open. Woodland Items. From Our Regular Correspondent. Mr. Owen is putting on an addition to his house. Mr. arid Mrs. Gibbs and son, John, took dinner at Mr. Sams Sunday. Mr. Stiles is planting fruit trees on his 5-acre tract. Mr. McCormick took dinner with Mr. Sams and family last Sunday. Mr. Kuck has bought a horse and has rigged up a cart. Not quite so much walking. Peter Troup raised a fine lot of cane on land that was broke last March without any fertilizer. Mr. Way is busy gathering and storing his sweet potatoes and other vegetables. Mr. Gibbs has his boat almost ready to launch in the Oemulgee river. We do not like to loose so good a neigh¬ bor, hut we wish him success ail the same. Jo Dandy. Election Notice. Two (2) members of the school board loi each ward of the city. The polls will open at 9 o’clock in the forenoon and close at 4 o’clock in the afternoon. For the purpose of paying a certain promissory note for the sum, of five hundred dollars, executed and delivered by Wm McPheeters'to Mathew Barnes on the30th day of March, 1897, arid due on the 30th day of September, 1897, stipulating for interest’ from date at the rate of 8 per cent, per annum and ten per cent liquidated dam¬ ages.
