Woodland Items. From Our Regular Correspondent. Wesley and Sadie Sams are putting in part of their vacation burning logs. J. II. Boice has to spend his even¬ ings at home now, since his better- half returned. Mrs. A. L. Sams has been on the sick list for a few days this week, but is mending at this writing. Mrs. Hall, of the Enterprise, gave J. H. Boice a short call Tuesday, and left twenty-eight more fruit tree to be set out on her 5-acre tract. Mr. Way and wife, from Atlanta, arrived at Woodland last Friday. They have a fine 5-acre tract, and ex¬ pect to make Woodland their future home. Mrs. Boice, wife of J. H. Boice, ar¬ rived at Woodland last Thursday evening from Geneseo, Ill. The gen¬ tlemanly John Gray brought her to Woodland in his carriage. J. II. Boice had raddishes, lettice, pepper grass and tomatoes for dinner on Christmas. So much for a home in the sunny South. Jo Dandy. Good Hope Items. From our Regular Correspondent. R. M. Pierson is still on the sick list. D. M. Pierson, who has been on a Xmas trip, has returned. Mr. Todd, railroad foreman for Pierson, has gone away visiting during holidays. Fred Hoffman, Thomas Hurley and Mrs. J. Drapler took Christmas dinner with J. F. Hoffman. Mrs. Fox, Mr. and Mrs. Shauklin, Ed Eissert, Geo. Gaffney were at the Episcopal church tree. Belvine Pierson’s lumber inspector ily has through gone to the Ashburn holidays. to visit liii^ym- Mr. Henry Gates and wife spent Sunday at J. F. Hoffmans. Also Messrs. Geo. Ess and Fred Hoffman. Christmas Eve Thomas Hurley hitched up his team, went around and picked up Mrs. J. Drexler and chil¬ dren and John Hoffman’s children, all of whom he took to the Xmas tree held in the Catholic church at Fitz¬ gerald, where all enjoyed Santa Claus and his presents. The sawyer and other employes of Pierson Bros, are visiting through the holidays. Observer. Sparks From Wolf Pit. From Our Regular Correspondent. Who got the owl, Shorty? Mr. Colwell is on the sick list. Oh, how' it rained Christmas day. Mr. Hogle has gone to Ocilla to work. Aunt Laura Bloodj is able to be around again. Miss Annie Gaff spent Christmas at Betsey Hortons. Wm. and Wes Pearson dined at Mr. Bloods Sunday. Mr. Lambert had the misfortune to lose his horse this H'eek. Jess Gaff is hauling timber to the river for a Mr. Sutton. Miss Ettie Pollman was sick a few days this week with cold. Mr. Pemberton and family, from west of town, spent Christmas in this vicinity. Rev. O. O. Johnson and wife were the guests of Mr. Pollman’s family Christmas. Dwight Foxworthy and Sella Jones have been clearing some for Mr. Poll- man during the past week. S. O. Swafford is to give a temper¬ ance lecture Sunday, Jan. 2, ’98, at Wolf Pit. Everybody invited. Fred Ray and Miss Delia Ilogle were united in the holy bonds of mat¬ rimony Christmas day at the residence of Mr. Pollman, Rev. O. O. Johnson officiating. We wish them much hap¬ piness. The Christmas tree at Wolf Pit was a success. A large crowd and every¬ thing passed off pleasantly. There was a good program rendered, consist¬ ing of select reading and declamations. NOTES. Santa Claus was to perfection by L. Swafford. Santa come in an ox cart instead of sleigh and reindeers. Who got the tinware? Judge Ray? Who looked for the gopher and ana didn’t get it? Mr. Pollman?
