Session This Week

in the Presbyterian cbundi of this
city Tuesday evening. April 12th.,
being opened with a sermon by the i
retiring Moderator. Rev. Chas. j
Montgomerv. of Mt. Vernon, Ga., i
who took his text from I)eut. 1:8.
Rev. L. A. McLain m, of States-
boro, was then elected Moderator
for this se.-sion, mid Kev. J. L.
Patterson, of Blacks,ear, Ga.,!
was elected reading clerk. Follow-
ing the election, the devotional
committee made their report a
follows: Morning sessions from
8:30 to 11; afternoon sessions from
2 to 5 p. m,; evening sessions from
7:45 to aujourn at will.
Rev. W. Moore Scott, of the
First Presbyterian church of Sa¬
vannah, preached at the eleven
o’clock service Wednesday morn¬
ing on the 4 Christian Home', and
Rev. R. A. Brown, of Waycross,
preached at the evening service,
using as his theme, ‘Faith founded
on the Power of God.’ Immediate¬
ly following the Wednesday even¬
ing service, the ministers and dele¬
gates were tendered a reception at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. G.
Broadhurst on South Grant street,
which was attended by the mem¬
bers of the church and their
friends.
The election of commissioners
to the General Assembly was an
interesting feature and Rev. Chas.
Montgomery was elected commis¬
sioner from the ministry, and Air.
R. Frank Cassells, of the tirst
Presbyterian Church, of Savannah,
was elected commissioner from the
ruling eldership. Quite a bit of
time was also spent in the interest
of Presbyterial Institute ut Black¬
shear, Ga., which is the pet insti¬
tute of the Presbytery, and by a
resolution passed, it is hoped to
place this institute upon a solid
financial basis.
The greater part of Thursday’s
morning session was devoted to
routine business, such as the hear-

Unquestionably the most impor¬
tant business of this session was
that of Christian Education conse¬
crated in the Presbyterial Institute,
Home and Foreign Missions.
Dr. Patterson, one of the most
gifted ministers in South Georgia,
will remain a week to assist the
pastor in a protracted service.
There will be but one service on
Saturday at 10 o'clock a. m. On
Sunday there will be three services,
one at 11 a. m. A special service
at 3:30 p. m. for young people
and children, and preaching in the
evening at 7:45. Each day of
next week at 10 a. m. and 7:45 p.
m. Dr. Patterson will preach.
Good music is expected and an
earnest invitation is issued to the
members and their friends to at-
tend all of these services.

The police are busy issuing street
tax notices to all male inhabitants
between the ages of 18 and 50.
The police say none will escape, as
all must pay the street taxaccording
to summons. Street tax is Si.50,
if not paid promptly a fine of
$5.00 will be assessed.

lanta at 10:10 p. m., Birmingham 4:30 p. m., getting connections from
all incoming trains at Atlanta and Birmingham, and establishing ad¬
ditional connections at Douglas with Georgia & Florida Ky. morning
trains, North and Southbound; at Offerman with A. C. L. No. 182
for Savannah and North: at Thomasville with A. C. L. trains for
Monticello, Fla., Bainbridge. Ga., and points West. Connections
from this train are also established at Thalman for Jacksonville and
South, and Savannah and North, with S. A. L. morning trains.
