A beautiful function of Thurs-
day was the afternoon reception at
which Mrs. R. I. Maflett was the
charming hostess, entertaining in
honor of Miss Claudia Plant, of
Marshallville, who is her attrac¬
tive guest.
The pretty home throughout
was a mass of lovely spring roses
which were banked on the mantels
end in vases on the tables and
tilling every available place.

Edith Hott'man, received in the
parlor which was beautifully
decorated with roses.
The punch table, which
arranged in the dining room, was
presided over by Mrs. Wright
Paulk while a delicious salad course
was served by Mrs. A. H. Den¬
mark, Mrs. R. M. Ware, Mrs.
Drew Paulk and Mrs. Fred Clarke.
Others assisting the hostess were
Mrs, L. W. Meakin, Mrs. J. L.
Pittman and Mrs. Will Rogers,
who rendered delightful readings
throughout the afternoon.
The reception was a lovely and
most enjoyable affair throughout,
about sixty-five ladies calling be¬
tween the hours of three thirty
and five thirty o’clock.
Dr. Patterson, who has been
conducting services in the Presby¬
terian church morning and even¬
ing during the week will leave to¬
morrow morning for his home.
Dr. Pattirson’s sermons have made
a deep impression upon those who
have listened to him, and it is
confidently hoped that he has
sown seed that will bear good
fruit for years to come.
Next Tuesday, the 26th, being &

Mr. W. H. McKee, one of the
citizens of Fitzgerald, and
well known by all. died at his
home yesterday afternoon at 2
Mr. McKee had been in
feeble health for several months,
but nevertheless his death was
quite a shock to his family and
friends. He leaves a wife and
four children. The funeral will
be conducted by Rev. W. S:
Harden Sunday afternoon at 3:30,
will probably be held m the
Presbyterian church.
All who are going to Mobile to
the reunion of the Confederate
Veterans, will purchase their tick-
ets at the A. B. & A. office to
then over S. A. L. to
Montgomery, then over the L. &
