Pecan City Will Open
Wednesday
The probability is that there are
quite a few citizens of Fitzgerald
who will attend the opening of
Pecan City . which will bean event
of Wednesday, next, June 15th.
Liturature, advertising the open¬
ing of the city, has been circulat¬
ed here and many of our real
estate men, who are credited with
•‘knowing a good thing when
they see it” have evinced consider¬
able interest in the project and have
signified their intention of being
present at the opening, which will
be in the form of an auction sale.
Pecan City is situated about
half way between Moultrie and
Albany, on the Georgia Northern
Railroad. It derives its name
from its geographical location, as
it is near, if not a part of the ricli
pecan belt.
At the opening sale Wednesday,
a barbecue will be a leading feat¬
ure; also prizes to the amount of
$2,500 will be given away. These
prizes consist of a beautiful $2,000
FI no re touring car and a $500
piano, and everybody making
purchases has a chance of winning
one of these handsome prizes.

We have answered this cry in
our new book “Fighting the Traf¬

Bell, U. S. District Attorney Sims

indictment of the White Slave

how thousands of young girls are
lured from their homes annually
and sold into a life of shame.
The Cincinnati Inquirer says “of
all the books of the season the
War on the White Slave Trade is
the most helpful; it should be
read by every man, woman and
child.” Agents are making from

In Memory Of Little
Lavada Bass
On Tuesday May 24th, 1910,
the death Angel visited the home
of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Bass and
took from them their loving
daughter, Lavada, aged three
years who died from bronchitis.
Grieve not, dear parents, for
she is walking the streets of gold,
where pain, sorrow nor death never
appears.
Drifted beyond ail sorrow,
Beyond all toil and pain,
Into a bright tomorrow;
To suffer never again,
Drifted across toe river,
That flows by the great white
throne,
Into the peace and glory of
A beautiful heavenly home.
A precious one from us has
gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be tilled,
God in his wisdom has recalled,
The boon His love has given,
And through the body slumbers
here,
The soul is safe in.
Her loving cousin,
Alma L. Campbell.

Waycross Lodge No,

The following was written
especially for the Waycross Lodge,
but is applicable to every lodge in
the state, so we copy it:
“Brethren:
The Sovereign Grand Lodge of
the World will meet in Atlanta
next September about the 20th,
and in my opinion this is the largest
and grandest secular convention
that meets in the United States
and Canada. I believe that it will
be the first time that this Lodge
ever met in Georgia.
The legislative body is compos¬
ed of about two hundred members
and is a very dignified body. The
total attendance will be about
forty thousand. At Toronto,
Canada in 1906, the crowd was
estimated at more than forty
thousand Every Odd Fellow,
that can ought to avail himself of
the opportunity of seeing this
great gathering, and witness the
parade. In Toronto, four years
ago the procession was more than
tvvo miles long.
Now, in order to attend this
convention, you must be a member
the Subordinate Lodge, a mem-
ber of the E ^ampment in the
