Brcxton Masonic
Lodge Picrvics
The annual picnic of the Brox-
ton Masonic Lodge was held last
Friday in Passmore's Park of that
city and was a success from every
point of view.
The Park, radiantly clothed in
summer Howers of the softest
hues and shaded by the spreading
boughs of the stately old oaks, is
one of the loveliest spots iu south
Georgia, and is perfectly ideal for
an affair of this kind. The out¬
ing was attended by about fifteen
hundred people, all of whom feel
greatly indebted to the Broxton
Lodge for their hospitality.
In the way of repast, a delicious
barbecue was partaken of. there
being possibly twenty carcasses
perpared for the occasion.
Several speeches were made
during the day. Major Almonte
E. Jones of this city making the
opening address, which was framed
in the piost beautiful language
and was enjoyed beyond measure
by all those present. Others who
made speeches were Dr. Sibbett.
of Douglas and Hon. IV. W.
Sullivan, of Broxton.
During the afternoon, delight¬
ful vocal music was furnished by
a trio, composing Messrs Maynard
and Harvey of Cordele and Mr.
Goddard of Fitzgerald. Their
selections were very choice am,l
wore received with eager applause
Mr. Goddard's tenor was great
and those who heard him were
most enthusiastic in their praise
of his exceptionally good voice.
The Albany Malitia passed
through here Monday, en route
from Irwinville, where they were
called to assist in the arrest of W.
H. Bostick, to Albany. ,
