ing a few days in the city with his
brother, Mr. Bob Powell.
Mrs. Dan Meeks and little
daughter, Allie, of Ocilla, passed
through the city Friday on her
way home from Nicholls where she
has been spending two months.
Mrs. E. C. Fox who has been
visiting in Birmingham has return¬
ed home. She was accompanied by
her daughter, Mrs. D. Davis, who
will spend several weeks in the
city.

Monday afternoon, enroute to
Waycross where she will be the
guest of Miss Susie Sharpe. Miss
Johnson visited here last winter
and made many friends.

a delightful surprise party by a
number of her friends on Morday
evening at her home on Grant St*
Delightful conversation, games
and music were enjoyed and home
made candies were served.

Little Miss Margaret Pope
Thurmond was the charming
young hostess on Saturday after¬
noon at a pretty party, in honor
of her third birthday and to which
she invited a number of her little
friends to spend the afternoon with
her.
They had and a jollv-good time play¬
ing games later were served
with delightful refreshments.

several days in the city and it is
very probable that he will move
his family here from Fitzgerald.
He has closed out the Fitzgerald
store and will iu the future give
all of his time to the store in this

Is Burned Up in Fire
MACON, Ga., Jan. J.—-Two thousand
dollars in paper money was burned up in
a tire which destroyed the store of J. P.
Noble iu South Macon last night. His
entire stock aud furnishings were lost.
Noble had the money in a cash box secure¬
ly hidden away. It was burned to ashes.
The tire is believed to have been of incen¬
diary origin.
