W. T. C. U. LECTURE
By Mrs. McDorvaHd
National Lecturer
A few of those in the city who
are interested in the Temperance
question had the rare treat last
night of li-tening to a most bril¬
liant lecture deliveied by Mrs.
McDonald, National lecturer for
the W. C. T. U.
Mrs. McDonald told her hearers
many interesting things pertain-
ing to this damnable line of trade.
-One that does DO one any good
„ml one that pauperizes and makes
more criminals than any other
line of trade. It is the one element
of society by which the public is
not benelited and it is this element
of society that is allowed to domi-
nato our politics. Out of this
element has grown the so called
Syndicate of Vice, one of the most
deplorable institutions of our
country who carry on their terri¬
ble trade of “white slavery. - ’
Then again stop and consider
what it means to have the Liquor
dealers and Brewers tell President
Taft if he prints the report of the
Committee, who had investigated
the liquor business that they will
have him arrested for printing
obscene literature. The report
never came out. “It is a thing
every man, woman and child
should rise up and stamp out.
Mrs. McDonald pleaded with the
people of Ga. to wake up as the
Devils own hand is'at work in
this state and we all need to he
alive and watchful.
Quite a good offering was taken
up at the close of the lecture.
Mr. E. C. Elder, of Cochran,
and Mr. Brice Smith, of Macon,
were business visitors to the city
this week._____
