There is a rumour in this city
that the Seaboard Air Line will
fake over the Tampa Northern ex-
tension and push the work to corn-
pletion. This rumour is notcerti-
3ed. but it comes from a source
which is believed to be authentic.
The matter was brought again
to the public, lust week when the
Tampa Tribune announced that
there was a chance of being push-
ed to completion at once.
The Coast Line, it is also rumor-
ed has already started the purchase
of material for the extension of its
line from Monticello 'to Perry.
making the West Coast Line into

ty stated that the Georgia and
Ito ida Railway, which goes from
Augusta, has decided to
Silver Bp from and push that city to completion Thomas-
aa to
0fle through Pavo and then on
w gulf. All are feasible and
with the extension contemplated
to Tallahassee by use of the tim¬
ber lands recently purchased by
Messrs. Upchurch there is every
reasou to believe that this city will
be the center of railroad building
in the state during the coming
twelve months.
White House Flooded
by Dimes and Dollars
Washington, June 24.—A popu¬
lar desire throught the country to
participate in President Taft’s sil¬
ver wedding has brought many
letters to the White House con¬
taining pieces of silver money
ranging from a dime to a dollar
and in some cases other currency
has been sent. The president in
courteous letters of regret has in¬
formed the senders, in returning
their gifts, that he would be unable
to accept the money, but he ap¬
preciates the spirit shown by the
writers.

Plexn Abolition
of Locker Clubs
Macon, Ga., June 25.—That a
a state-wide movement, looking to
the repeal of the near beef clause
and the abolition of the locker
clubs, was launched throughout
Georgia today, was the announce-
ment made in nearly a score of
churches.
At each church the congregation
was asked to indorse, by a rising
vote, a set of resolutions petition¬ I
ing the local representatives anc
senators to vote for the repeal of
near beer and locker clubs. In
ery instance a majority of those
present expressed their approval
of the resolutions.
It is estimated that in this, rnan-
ner fully 12,000 church people of
Macon today went on record as
favoring a m: re stringent prohibi¬
tion law. Copies of these
tions will be Sent to the legislators
of Bibb county and the senator
from this distr: 1 .
This idea was formulated by
the Georgia Anti-Saloon League,
who had each of its local branch
organizations take the matter up
with the churches in their respec¬
tive districts.
This is a part of the general
campaign now being waged and
yet to be more vigorously prose¬
cuted by the league and the Wo¬
men’s Christian Temperance Union
in co-operation for the passage < f
a tighter prohibition law.
