Summary Of Report Submitted To Judges
On January 8 , land was broken with a 3-horse, Chattanooga Re¬
versible Disk Plow; and on April 19, was broken a second time," to a
depth of 12 inches, with the same plow.
The middles were opened, three feet apart, with a 2-horse middle
buster, running twice in each furrow. Eight 2-horse loads of barn¬
yard manure were spread in these middle furrows, after which were
distributed in these same furrows, 1,000 pounds of 10-4 acid phosphate-
pot ash mixture.
April 20 , middle furrows were listed upon with 2 -horse Chatta-
. aad , drills , ... ,

twice'to the row. Corn was dropped by hand six to eight inches m
drill, and covered with P.anct Jr. Cultivator, the covered corn being
14 inches below surface of middles. No - fertilizer, of any kind was
used in drills.
On May 1st tl ere was a good stand, 4 inches high; and a light
drizzle came to the relief of the thirsty plants, after hot, dry days.
May 13. A good shower.
May 23. Very light showers.
June 5, A fair shower.
Juue 6 , Corn was sided, and 9-2-3 fertilizer distributed in siding
furrow, on both sides of corn, 1,000 pounds to the acre.
June 7. Middles were plowed out, two furrows to row.
t v ' me 9. One hundred pounds nitrate of soda were distributed—
one\ ,e of row only.
June 12. Corn was cultivi#sd with Planet Jr. On the 17th, aftei
five days of hot, dry winds, tlWjb came a light, useless drizzle.
June 19, Four hundred pounds of soda were distributed, hot!

June 24. Scorching weather all the week. No rain. Corn had
