py and enjoyable evening the ban¬

banquet was one of the most pleas-
ant social affairs that has ever been
given at the Central Christian
Ohurch, and those who failed to

Corps had their public installation

The manv friends of Mrs. J.
b. Butts will regret to learn of
her serious illness at her home
near this city. Mrs. Butts’ con-
dition is indeed critical and phys¬
icians have advised an immediate
operation which will necessitate
her removal to Atlanta-
Mrs- Robert V- Bowen, who
has been in P iling health for
sometime, is reported very low
at her home on South Maine
street, and relatives and friends
are lingering near the bedside,
expecting the last summons at
any moment.

have gone to Douglas to make
their home, were given a farewell

tertained at the Lyric Theatre,
and later at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Hager. The party was com¬
posed of Mr. and Mrs. John Faulk,

and Mrs. William Heck, Mr. and
Mrs. James Thompson, Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Brubaker, and Mrs.
Harry Shaw, of Indianapolis, Ind.

Quite a surprise to the many
friends of the contracting parties
will be the announcement of the
marriage of Miss Mae Orser and
Mr. Arthur Parsons, which was
solemnized on the seventh of last
Aug. and has since been kept a sec¬
ret.
The young couple, in seek of
romance, were married at Boweo’s
Mill, while on a picnic, Judge A.
A. Harvey performing the cere-
mony, which was witnessed by
Mrs. Waiter Forbes, Misses Min-
nie am! L'annie Parsons, and Mr.
E. A Arnold. Each member of
the ] at ty being pledged to keep
the secret, the marriage was not
announced until Wednesday of
this week.
The bride is the sister of Mrs. J.
A. Jones, and is an attractive and
cultured young woman, while the
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
M. Parsons, and is making a
success of the turpentine business,
Mr. and Mrs. Parsons will make
their home on their farm near
Abbeville.
