Can Remove Appendix
Through 34-Inch
Hole
Cleveland. Jan. 24 —Operations
for appendicitis thought to have
been perfected several years ago
when one and a half inches in¬
cisions were found to be adequate
have been still further simplilied
according to announcement made
to Surgeon of the Cleveland
Academy of Medicine. This sets
forth than an incision of but three-
fourths of an inch is necessary,
permitting the patient to leave
the oed within 24 hours after the
operation.
Description of the operation is
given in the Cleveland “Journal
of Medicine” just issued. Briefly
it reads;
“A short incision is made over
the appendix. No muscle or fibres
are cut. These are instead sepa¬
rated just enough to admit their
introduction of the index linger
with which a careful examination
is made of all the structures within
reach.
«< After exanwiation has verified
the diagnosis the appendix is
brought to the surface with the
hooked index linger. After the
appendix is delivered the rest
the operation is easy,’*

An orchestra furnished splendid
music throughout the evening, and
Mr. Rawley rendered two beauti¬
ful vocal solos, which wore great¬
ly enjoyed. At a late hour a de¬

served, Mrs. L. II. Keim presiding

Rev. Mr Beatty encountered eon-

in by automobile from Tifton. He
missed connection in both Cordele

hired an auto for the remainder of
