Shriners’ Special Arrives
O’clock
Tomorrow Morning over Seaboard
Fitzgerald Will Throw Open Her Doors
to Alee Temple.
LocaJ Shriners are Encouraged
over the Sudden Favorable
Change in The Weather,
and are Bent Upon Mak¬
ing Tomorrow a Day
to be Remembered
All arrangements are now complete for the entertainment of
the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine in this city to-morrow and the
event b ds fair to measure up to the brightest expectations of
those who have the meeting in charge- The weather seems
settled and if Old Sol shows his face as radiantly to-morrow as
he has today, the session will be a success from every viewpoint.
The parade which takes place at three-thirty o’clock, is to be
one of the most interesting public features of the meeting, and
has been planned on a very large scale. The parade Committee
has advertised for one hundred or more saddle horses to be used
in the parade, and the owners of same are responding very
promptly. The costumes will be very interesting.
All the business men of the city are assisting the Shriners in
making the day a gala occasion by decorating their stores in red,
and if you have not yet raised your colors, do so before nine
o’clock in the morning.
The Shriners, about four hundred strong, will arrive over the
Seaboard which gets here at nine o’clock, and will be met by the
automobiiists of the city and given a ride over our good roads,
winding up at the hotel.
Mix with the visitors and don’t fail to boost Fitzgerald and
Ben Hill.
Business Section
To Be Pawed,
na.nce Passed a.rvd
Contract Let
The matter of paving the streets
in the business section of Fitzger-
aid, which has been discussed for
the past few weeks, is now a set-
tied fact, for the City
held a special meeting last night
and passed the Ordinance provid-
ing for same.
The contract was given to the
Birmingham Paving Brick Com¬
pany, and was signed by the street
and alley committee of the coun¬
cil, Messrs W. R. Paulk, G. A.
Miller and J. H. Mayes; and May¬
or Cook.
As was originally planned, Grant
street between Central and Mag¬
nolia, and Pine street between
Sherman and Main, will be paved

! under this contract, but it is a very
' safe assertion they
that will not
! stop until Central avenue and Main
street are paved also, as the prop-
erty owners along these thor¬
oughfares will doubtless wish it.
The Ordinance provides that the
city shall meet one-third of the
expense of putting the paving
down, and the property owners
shall pay the remaining two-thirds,
Vitrified brick will be used, and
under the terms of the contract
work will begin in ten days, and
the four blocks of paring finishod
in sixty days. -The work will be
under the supervision of H. A.
Joudan. consulting engineer of
Savannah.
It will be well for the property
owners along these streets to make,
at once, whatever water
connections they intend making
within the next few years, as it
will be easier and less expensive
now than after the streets are
paved.
