Correcting An Ad
We don’t often’ make mistakes
for which we feel that we should
make correction. But this case
deserves mention. Dodd is a good
fellow and a voung man yet, we
know heis good for sixty vears
more, and when the printer made
his add read ‘“‘Store will be closed
Monday” he did Mr. Dodd as well
as the Dodd Supply Co. a great
injustice, for the store will be op
en, but the special sale will close
and if ycu want to take advantage
of the bargains advertised by the
Dodd Supply Co. you must hurry
for the SALE does ciose next
Monday but the Store will be op
en the same as ever and bigger and
better all the time.
There was another error in the
Dodd Supply Co.’s ‘“Ad” in the
Wednesday’s issue. We meant
“Flour $5.85 per bbl” instead of
$5.50. The Mill prices on the same
(’]'mlitv of flour they are offering
at $5.85 is now worth $6.30 per
bbl, in car lots. The Dodd Sup
'_bly Company’s big sale closes next
Monday Dec. 5.

ANOTHER POWDER MILL
EXPLODES; CARELESS
HANDLING ALLEGED CAUSE
Wilmington, Del, November 30.
Thirty workmen were killed and sev
en injured in the explosion today at
the DuPont Powder plant at its
Hagely yards, near here. ;
" One identified dead was Elmer
Neal, a driver, who lived near the
powder yard. He was blown to
atoms_and also the two horses he
was driving.
The explosion wrecked the Pellet
pack house and the press room in the
upper yard.
The building, which was exception
ally large, was wrecked and every
+hing nearby suffered the same fate.
' The scene in that settlement was
'terrible. Women, nearly all of whom
had relatives working in or near the
mill, were frantic, and their agony was
increased because of the fact that it
was difficult to obtain definite infor
mation.
Many of the men killed were blown
to fragments. Arms, legs, hands,
heads, feet and other portions of
bodies were found about the yard, in
the trees and across the Brandywine.
. The cause of the explosion may
never be known. The mill destroyed
was one in which black powder was
finished and prepared for shipment.
It is supposed that in an unknown
manner grit found its way into the
presses or that a spark was caused
’by friction, this igniting the powder.
How much powder was in the mill
at the time is not known, but it was
a large quantity.
