‘Greeks Play For Time
Paris, Dec. 7—The Athens correspondent of the Matin, in a dis
patch relative to the attitude of Greece toward the entente powers
says: ‘“‘The government is simply playing for time hoping that the
entente allies will be forced to the sea by the Austro-Germans and
Bialgars, It will be found in a week or so that an agreemen® between
the Greek and the allied staffs cannot be reached and that the govern
m=>n will declare that notwithstanding Greece’s traditional good will
towards the entente powers it cannot acceed to their demands.” *
The correspondent affirms that the only effective course is to ap
p!y a blockade to Greece. 4

FITZGERALD, BEN HILL COUNTY, GEORGIA, DEC. 8, 1915.
WHY NOT A COMMUNITY X'MAS TREE
| For several years in the past we have given Christ
mas entertainments to the little ones indoors. A number
ot the cities this year are planning Community Trees for
all the children, why not Fitzgerald and Ben Hill county.
The Leader-Enterprisc will gladly cooperate with some
of the Live Sunday School workers and help raise the
funds for a tree on a large enough scale to take in every
white child in Ben Hili county. The Suaday school ral'y
proved what cooperation can do in that line, let the same
spirit get behind a éommunity tree movement and we will
make Christmas mean something to the littie ones. We
are looking for volunteers. there cannot be too many,
but someone must make the start. Will YOU join us?

New Orleans, Dec. 7:—Announce

of State Presidents of Farmers Un

The offer is for the middling grade.
A committee composed of H. N.
Pope, D. E. Dyday and Peter Rad

ment would be assembled in New
Orleans for early delivery. It was

To Buy More
Fire Apparatus.
Atlanta, Dec. 6-—That the city
of Atlanta has fallen far behind
other cities of similiar size in the
class of her fire apparatus is de
clared by fire Chief Cody, who
says that there is serious need
for more motor fire apparatus at
once. ¢
“‘We have twenty six square
miles to cover, and I know of
only two southern cities more
difficult to cover— Knoxville and
Richmond.
The fact that Atlanta has had?
few disastrous fires during t he
past few years Chief Cody at
tributes more to good luck than
to the city department’s present
mechanical adequacy ‘in facing
a big city blaze.
The proposition is before
council, and he has been for
some time, but whether a ma
terial appropriation will be ob
tained any time soon is a proble
matical question,
