- Miss La Trelle Williamson,
who has been the attractive
guest of her cousins, Mr. and
Mrs. Alvin H. Thurmond for the
past month left this morning
for her home in Jefferson, Ga.
accompanied by Mr. Thurmond
and Kurt, making the trip thru
the country in Mr. Thurmond’s
new car. While here Miss Wil
liamson made a great number
of friends and was shown num
erous social attentions, being
one of the most popular visitors
of the season.
Rogers W. Dickson, who is attend
ing the University of Georgia, is
home for the holidays visiting his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. Dickson.
Rogers has the distinction of being
the first gratuate of the Ben Hill
rural schools admitted to the Uni
versity. Rogers graduated from the
Ashton high School in 1914, and
won the gold medal at the rural
schools commencement.

and all of the other towns on the
‘‘good roads’’ sent auto loads of
people to the clty this week to
purchase their Christmas things,

Christmas Tree Stories
“Oh! what would the world be to us ‘
If the children were no more?
We would dread the desert behind us
[ Worse than the dark before.
The hearts of over 200 children of
the First Baptist Church were made
glad this afternoon. A Christmas
‘program of music was rendered, the
small children singing and Christ-l
mas bells being played. Santa Claus
made a visit, bringing good thingsl
to all and giving out the numerous
presents, each of the children being
remembered. The church gave the
Christmas tree to the Primary De
partment, Mrs. L. Kennedy having
charge of the tree and Mrs. J. B.
Wall the music.
The Central Methodist Church
will give a Christmas tree to the
poor of the city. Each member is
‘asked to bring gifts, and all those
iwho own cars will distribute the
gifts first throughout the city. |
The “White Christmas Tree” was
a delightful sight at the Presbyte
rian Church. White gifts, consisting
of clothing, food or anything useful
were .brought by the members of
the Sunday School and church, to
be given to the orphans.
The First Methodist Church will
have a Cantata and Christmas tree
celebration this Friday evening. All
are cordially invited.
Shower For Miss Persons.
Mrs. J. L. Frazer and Miss Nelle
Frazer entertained this morning
with a beautiful party for Miss
Persons. Each guest were request
ed to make a pair of hose for the
bride’s trousseau, and the gifts
brought by the friends of Miss Per
sons filled a wonderful “stocking,’
presented by Santa Claus. After
the presents were opened and exam
ined by the bride-elect,a delicious
salad course was served, Mrs. Grailey

JUDGE SEAY DEAD
Long Beach, Cal.. Dec, 23.—Judge
A. J, Seay, former territorial gover
nor of Oklahoma, died at his home
here last night. He was 83 years
old. Judge Seay was appointed ter
ritorial governor of Oklahoma in
1892 and served two years. Ho
formerly was supreme judge of the
territory. 2 ’

An Old Settler Gone.
George Hunter, aged 61 yeers,
died at his home north of town last
Tuesday. Mr. Hunter was an old
resident of this section. He leaves
behind a family and a good name:
and a large circle of friends, who
deeply regret his death.
The funeral services were held at
Bethlehem church last Wednesday,
and the interment in the ceme~
tery near by.
