Berlin, Jan. 15—Director Kling
enborg, of the General Electric com
pany, has announced the perfection,
after many years of experimenting of
an “electro-magnetic hand.”
With this device it is possible to
grasp the heaviest metal objects and to
work them as with human hands. The

of the new inventionis said to be easy.
It is hoped that the invention will

Important Meeting of
‘ City Council To-night
The city council will hold its
'second meeting for the year to
rrnight,»-fer ithe passage @f the oc
cupation tax ordinance and other
important measures. The license
committee of the council has
been busily engaged since the
first meeting of the council in
revising the occupation tax or
dinance to conform to the new
conditions arising on account of
the passage of the new prohibi
tion law of the State. The com
mittee has recommended the in
crease of the former licenses of
a number of occupations. Fail
ing to agreé on some of the dis
position of these will be left to
the vote of the entire body to
night and the meeting for this
reason will be of especial interesti
to a number of people. \
Among the most important of
these is the near-beer license and
the pool-room licgnses both of:
which will have to be passed oni
by the full vote of the council.

Cettinj e,capital of Montenegro, was

The official announcement states:

The population is calm.”
