Atlanta, Jan. 24—A surprising
condition relating to the unrestrict
ed issuance of marriage licenses in
Atlanta has been brought to hight,
which, it is believed. may indirect
ly account for the excessive num
ber of divorces applied for in the
19cal courts, .
It is stated that practically any
body in Atlanta can get a marriage
license to marry anybody else,
simply by applying for it. The
ordinary cnly asks two questions:
““Is the girl 18 or over, and is she
a resident of this county.”
Both of these questions can be
answered untruthfully, and often
are. No investigation is made, and
no one isthe wiser, Further in-

Miss A. M. Ribsam, one of the
former teachers of the city,
writes from Michigan that she is
still caring for her invalid mother
and that her thoughts are often
with the friends in Fitzgerald.
Hundreds of little ones, her
former pupils, now in the High
school and cut of it, will always
bear her in loving rememberance
for the good she has done them.
