The entire body of Dixie Highway
Commissionrs will pass through Ocil
la Monday afternon about 2:00, and
stop here for half an hour to meet
the people and form some opinion of
this as one of the towns along the
rout of the proposed highway.
There was a meeting in the City Hall
Tuesday night for the purpose of ar
rapging suitable entertainment for the
Commissioners while here, and the
Woman'g club, assisted by a commit
tee of men, will have charge of that
feature of the day 't was planned o
have a targc delegation of people who
have automaoniles mceet the Commis
sioners at the Ben Hill county line and
to escort them to Ocilla.
Quite a party of Ocilla pcople went
over to Moultrie Monday to go thro’
the packing house at that placc, and
had a pleasant outing. They had din
ner at the hotel in which Misses Par
ish and Davidson joined them. The
party was composed of Mr. and Mrs.
1. M. Little, ‘Mr dnd Mrs. R V.
Paulk, Mr, J. L. Paulk, Miss Frankie
Howell and Miss Letitia Ashley.
Miss Grace Smith, of Lafayette has
accepted the position of superinten
dent of the Dismuke & Willis sani
tarium. Miss Smith is a graduate of
the Grady hosptal in Atlanta, and
comes to her new position here very
highly recommended.
The Woman's club of Ocilla are
preparing to get out'a “booster edi
tion” of the Ocilla Star next week,
a percentage of the gross income to
go to the library fund. The business
people of Ocilla have been liberal in
their patronage, and a sixtecnipagc
paper is in sight mext week, with pos
sibly more. !
On Wednesday evening Miss Mi]lye
Hancock entertained a number of her
friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Arlie Tuckr, Jr. The house was
beautifully decorated in blue and
white. Miss Hancock received the
guests at the door, and carried them
into the reception hall, where little
Misses Mary Barber and Emily Paulk
were presiding at the punch bowl. Af
tor all the guests had assembled sev
c-al entertaining games were played,
vwhich added greatly to the enjoy
ment of the evening. About 10 o‘clock
r- ke and cream were served by little
Misses Mary Barber and Emily
Peualk. The guests departed after
P'onouncing a most enjoyable even-

Douglas, spent last week visiting in

Mr. Gene Barnett, who has been i]l
for some time is now making rapid
improvement. His friends hope that
he may soon be restored to complete

eration and that she will be able to
return to her home within a week or
