YOUR PART: If you have joined the enthusiastic bunch of
boosters and done nothing more, you have added a little to the total of
the city's welfare.
: DO YOU KNOW TEAM WORK COUNTS?
Say that team work doesn’t count—what could the individual
citizen or town or county have accomplished in that Highway move
ment but for team work,—pulling together—the counties, the towns
and the the greater number of individual enthusiasts who have given
money and time to this movement. But one “GOOD ROAD” is
only a step—its accomplishment, a lesson in co-operation. Let the
citizens of Fitzgerald make this a mere stepping stone for greater
achievements, by co-operation and team work for the “Best City” in
the WiregBrass. It's not the self-aggrandizement of the individual,
no matter or how successful, that will spread pro':spe, rity among
many, it’s the unseli’sh devotions of the many to a cause that
brings certain satisfact ou to its promoters and benefits- to our com
munity. Let’s grasp the opportunity as it knocks at our doors and
pull for Fitzgerald and Ben Hill county as never before.
What is the world coming to, anyway? Can you tell? If you
can you are more than human. England, France, Germany, Austria,
Italy, Russia,, Belgium, Servia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Montenegro, Japan
Portugal, all shedding their hearts blood in .a useless cause, set
ting the world on fire to satisfy the jealousy and hatred of kings,
emperors and aristocratic fools. What will history say? Why, the
world will be fortunate if there is anyone left to write a history, A
few countries are left that are ostensibly at peace, but in all its fury.
Spain is restless and irritated, China is smoldering with internal re
volt, Sweden, Norway, and Greece are on fire, ahd now we, the fair
est of all lands, a people who love peace above all peoples of the
earth, are diping our feet into the rivers of Mexican blood, and there
seems no way of staying our steps. We must avenge the sacking of
our territory and the massacre of our innocent citizens, let the con
sequences be what they may.

FARMERS PRODUCE WEALTH, BUT FEW RETAINIT.
: : —A : W
r According to information gathered by the Manufacturer’s Re
cord, of Baltimore, the value of the farm product: of Georgia in 1915
'was thwo hundred and thirty-three and ‘2 half miltion doHars or
nearly ten million dollars moré than in 1909. - Despite the blow given
the South, by the war, the aggregate amounts of the value of the
products of the farm increased during this period. More Tood stuff
has Dbeen raised in Georgia than ever before and the entire South
according to these figurs, ha prospered in like proportion. The
need of better marketing systems becomes more apparent, when such
tremendous wealth is considered. Individual efforts are of little help
in the face of such large interests and it becomes an issue of national
importance to provide means and methods to secure the creators of
this vast wealth a fair return for their efforts. Let Congress act
and let the State legislative bodies awaken to th necessity for secur
ing as a “first aid” a state warchouse system that will enable the pro
ducers to better protect themselvs against the speculative elements
that so largely enter into the marketing of the southern money crop.
A FELLOW AND HIS LODGE.
Some people are lodge crazy and join everything in sight. They
are called “joiners.” Others are pessimistic and can see no good in
any lodge. . ' :
But there is mdch good to be derived from membership in any of
the legitimate lodges that flourish everywhere, provided the lodge
habit is not carried to excess.
It creates a spirit of comradeship among the members that is sel
dom found elsewhere. If a member is in distress or difficulty, his
lodge promptly comes to his relief and tides him over the rough
places and into smoother waters. If he is sick, they cheer him with
their presence, and watch at his bedside, and see that his family does
not suffer during his incapacity. And in many other ways they are
a distinct benefit one to another.
The lodge is the symbol of the brotherhood of man, and its tenets
are founded upon the Bible and advocate the elevation of the human
race.
The fellow who identifies himself with some good lodge and lives
up to its teachings will be a better man and citizen for the few, hours
he devotes to its meetings.
