REV. SMALL ADDRESSES |
A LARGE AUDIENCE
Rev. Sam Small delivered an
address for the National Anti-Sa
loon League at the Opera House
Thursday morning to a well filled
house. The High School pupils,
about three hundred in number,
came in a body with their teach
ers and a number of the business
houses had closed to give their
employees an opportunity to
hear this gifted speaker.
Rev. L. A. Cooper introduced
’thc speaker, who then held the
audience in close attention for
about 45 minutes, interspersing
his statements of facts and statis
tics with remarks of a lighter
vein. \While the address was
pleasing in the main and fully ap
proved -by the audience, it was
disappointing in so far that the
speaker failed to allude to the
law to go into effect May lst, and
which most of the audience hoped
to hear explained and amplified.
As the prohibition question is
settled in Georgia, in 80 far as
the passage of laws, 1t was
thought the enforcement of the
new law would be the main
theme of the speaker. In that re
spect the address failed entirely.
Mr. Small is a good speaker and
would .- no doubt ‘have: m
terested and instructed his hear
ers on the enforcement of the new
prohibition act, had it been his
purpose so to do.
