J. N. Mcßride, Agricultural
agent for the S. A. L. R. R,, was
in the city last week looking after
the berry prospects for another
season. Mr. Mcßride states that
several of our local growers have
done so well this season in a lim
ited way with berries, that he is
promised a large acreage for next
year. Mr. Mcßride states that
Geo. Drexler receivad $175 on less
than an acre and that Sam Wit
chard did equally as well on a
smaller plot.

BACCALAUREATE
SERMON. :
Nearly every church in the city
united in the Baccalaureate ser
vice at the Baptist church Sun
day morning. The speaker’s
platform was very artistic and
stately with the’ decorations of
ferns, palms and aster lilies, the
class flowers which were arrang
ad by the juniors.
The choir consisted of singers
from the different churches.
The class of twenty-four mem
bers marched in the church by
appropriate music and as they
were -steated the service was
opened by singing the “Doxolo
gy.,)
The invocation was given by
Rev. E. G. Orehood. Another
song by the coggregation follow
ed, then Rev. R. M. Mann read
the scripture.
“America” was then sung by
the congregation, followed by a
prayer by Rev. L. A. Cooper.
Rev. Mann and Mrs. J. C. Le
giour sang a tenor and alto duet,
“Ivory. Palaces.” Rev. R. M,
Mann of the Presbyterian church
gave the address to the class, the
subject being “Arise, Let Us Go
Hence.” At the close of the ad
dress, Mrs. Walter Drane very
beautifully sang “The Good
)Shcpherd.” The service was clos
ed by a prayer by Rev. L. A.

in the history of the Fitzgerald
schools will be graduated that
night, there being twenty-four
members:. Dr. K. G.® Mathison,
president of the Georgia School
of Technology will give the ad
dress. There will be appropriate
and beautiful musical numbers.
Misg Ida McMillan has been cho
sen Valedictorian of the class.
The pupils taking first places in
the class themes were Miss Ida
McMillan, Miss Georgia Lee Kirk
and Miss Edith Morris, whose es
says will be given at the com
mencement exercises.

DELIGHTFUL FISH FRY.
The Barraca’s of the Baptist
church entertained the Philathea
class with a fish fry at Lake Bea
trice Friday evening. The party
‘motored down to the lake in truck
cars, about sixty young people
going. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Dor
’miny and Mrs. J. B. Wall chap
eroned the party.
When they reached the picnic
groundg a camp fire was built and;
while the young ladies set the ta
ble the men fried the fish. A
regular fish supper was served,
consisting of fish and corn bread
and coffee.
