Sunday with Mr. J. J. Dorminy

A pretty party was given Tues
day aiternoon from five to seven
by Miss Helen Patterson, a com
pliment to Miss Clara Phillips,
who is the guest of Mrs. Orahood.
Rook was the entertainment of
the evening. Miss Rosalie Pat
terson served refreshing punch
during the afternoon. Miss Pat
terson was assisted in entertain
ing by her mother, Mrs. Patter
son and her two little sisters.
Mints wer placed on each table
and enjoyed with the game. At
the close of the afternoon ice
cream and cake was served.

On the spacious veranda of the
home of Mrs. Alvin Thurmond
Tuesday afternoon twelve girls
spent an unusually pleasant time.
The party was given in honor of
the gtiest of Mrs. Duard Jackson,
Miss Vivian Pierce, of Macon.
The porch was made a sitting
room and pretty baskets and jar
dineres of sunflowers made it at
tractive.
A unique and original contest
was an entertaining feature of the
afternoon, “Aunt Menu.” The
first letter of eacly word was given
for the guests to make out the
menu. After this the young ladies
were asked to take the letters of
,the surname of the honor guest
and use each letter for the begin
}ning of a sentence which should,
when finished, be a pretty poem.
'Some of them were pretty tributes
to the honor guest and the girls
proved themselves artists. :
A most elaborate luncheon was'
served at, ile close «f the after
noon. A sakd course in which the
salad was served in little boats
made of cucumbers, with cheese
straws for paddles. Iced tea was
served with this course. A de
licious caramel mousse with wa
fers completed the lunch.

Miss Jessie Meyers, of Way
cross, is the guest of her sister,

Misses Mary Burns, of Vienna,
and her sister, Marie Ward, of
Douglas. The young ladies will
arrive tomorrow. morning and re
main the week out.

Monday, the 19th, was a rec
ord breaker as far as the money
order business was concerned.
131 orders were issued, amount
ing to $565.22, being the largest
amount ever issued for any one
day in the history of the office.
Some of the boy’s supplies must
be running out evidently, as there
is no reason why people should
want to send money away for any
other commodity than booaze.
