county by a four-vote majority
over Hugh M. Dorsey, the suc

Congressional Race-
In the Congressional race Mr.
Crisp won easily over his oppo

giving Mr. Crisp 14 our of fifteen
counties. Sumter, the home
county :of both candidates, gave
Mr. Crisp a majority of 500 over
his opponent, it is said.

Returns Received at Depmarks
Several hundred citizens block
ed the streets in front of the Den
mark Drug Co. last evening eag
erly waiting for the returns being
received,: .
Judge J. R. Horton, with his
stentorian voice was kept busy
reading telegrams from the sever
al thousand country precincts in
the state, from whom reports
were sent in.
The crowd was good natured
the entire time and though a good
deal of pleasant raillery was in
dulged in between the friends of
the various gubernatorial candi
dates, all was taken in the spirit
of fun. As Mr. Dotsey’s support
ers had the most frequent oppor
henities to “let ’er go” the funer
‘chl evpressiut’ on the faces of the
friends of thi fother candidates be
came quite apathetic.

ENGLAND THREATENED
} BY RAILROAD STRIKE
} London, September 12.--The
?situation in the railway world
}arising out of the demands of the
‘men for an increase in wages of
10 shillings a week has become
iincrczxsing]y serious. At a meet
ing of 3,000 railway workers at
Cardiff today a resolution was
adopted providing that unless the
‘demand for the increase is con
ceded by September 16 all rail
‘way work will be stopped in
South Wales at midnight Sep
tember 17. The resolution also
stated that the advance in wages
should date from July 1 and that
the government should give a
definite guarantee that in the fu
ture it will control the supply of
food and regulate prices. The
resolution was carried without a
dissenting vote.
Judging from the government’s
attitude hitherto regarding the
question of the control of food,
its distribution and prices there
is little likelihood that it will
yield to such a demand, and
should the railway workers in the
other parts of the country indorse
the action of the South Wales
men there is danger of a general
railway stirke.

Atlanta Ga., September 13.—241 P. M.—Comptroller Wright,

appears to have won.
Jenkins, Bloodworth and George in lead for Court of Appeals.
All Congressman with the exception of Hughes in the Twelfth
and Walker in the Eleventh, were renominated.
Looks like Larsen and Bowden but still in doubt.
Atlanta, Sept.. 12—With 126
counties heard from by the Con
stitution at 11 o’clock tonight,
Hugh M. Dorsey had carried 96
with 242 convention votes, or 48
more than enough to nominate on
the first ballot.’
The result clearly indicates that
Dorsey has swept the state. The

went against him, would not be
sufficient to defeat him. 4t is cer

the counties at this hour unheard

Late returns indicated that
Gov. Harris is running a poor
second, carrying only 24 counties
out of the 126 heard from.
