“Robin Hood” Delights
°
Large Tampa Audience
Tampa Tribune Says it Was Splen
did Show Without Weak Spots
(From Tampa, (Fla..) Tribune,)
After a lapse of a quarter of a cen
eury, to hear again the sweet strains
that charmed those younger days, to
revel again in the delightful scenes of
Notingham and Sherwood Forest and
to enjoy again the drollery of the
sheriff, the antics of Sir Guy, the ro
tund comedy of Friar Tuck and the
frolics of the maids and men who sur
round them, is a pleasure not to be
discounted—and the fact that, after
all these years, “Robin Hood” comes
back, with all its original appeal and
popularity, is confirmation of the
claim made for it by the rritits of a
past generation, who acclaimed it the
best of American operas.
TAX COLLECTIONS ARE
NORMAL SAYS GRAHAM
Business men will find considerable
satisfaction in the statement made to
day by Tax Collector Fred M. Gra
ham that collections this year are nor
mal. If money was really as tight in
this section as has been alleged, the
shortage would have been felt in
amount of tax receipts. The tax books
officially closed Monday.

Decision of Judge Is No Surprise
in Macon or Abbeville
STATE’'S CASE WAS WEAK
N ———— -
Possibility of Suit for False Ar
rest Against Mrs. Crandall
According to reliable information
reaching here today. Judge Henry A.
Mathews of the Macon Judicial Cir
cuit this morning issued an order for
the discharge of the four people who
were held in jail or under custody on
charge of murdering Fred Shepard,
wealthy peach grower of Fort Valley.
The accused were Mrs. Eldridge Cutts
of Fitzgerald, Mrs. F. E. Elmer of
Jacksonville, Mrs. Tone Henry of
Perry and Earnest Hopson of Abbe
ville,
Preliminary hearing on the case
has been in progress before Judge
Mathews since last Tuesday, most of
;the time being taken up in taking
testimony from witnesses for the
‘statc. Six hours of argument was
heard yesterday from ttorneys on
both sides of -the case.
Little surprise was said to have
been expressed in Macon or Abbe
ville at Judge Mthew’s action in free
ing the four defendants. The state’s
case against them was considered
weak by attorneys and court officials
in close touch with the case,
Possibjlity is considered that at
least one of the accused persons will
bring suit against Mrs. Crandall, pros
ecutrix in the case, for causing false
arrest of the defendants. Inference is
that such action might be taken was
made by Judge John P. Ross, one of
Mrs. Elmer’s attorneys, during cross
examination of one of the state’s wit
nesses. No confirmation of this pos
sibility could be obtained by the Lea
der-Enterprise today.:
