MISS SMITH
IS HOSTESS
On Tuesday aftetnoon at her pretty
home on South Grant Street. Miss Lu
'a Smith was the charming hostess en
tertaining the members of the Sigma
lota Club and a few friends from 4
to 6o’clock. i
The rooms where the guests were
entertained were made bright and at
tractive with quantities of cut flowers
and flags and symbols suggestive of
‘George Washington’s birthday were
ased in profusion.
Each guest answered to roll call
with a quotation from Washington.
Apleasant afternoon was spent sewing
and chatting together after which the
hostess assisted by Miss Clotile
James served an elaborate sweet
course,

A resolution prevailed endorsing the
move that is being made by the
County School Superintendent and
School Board to consolidate a num
ber of the smaller schools and the
Eastern portion of the County with
the Ashton High School.
Mr. J. A. G. Ragsdale, Extension
agent in Marketing of the Georgia
State Collegevof Agriculture was pres
ent and made a very interesting talk
along the line of marketing farm prod
ucts, especially sweet potatoes which
was appreciated by the Farm Bureau
members.
The Bureau voted to assist the
County Agent in securing a goodly
number of Club members for the
County, there being no turther busi
ness the meeting adjourned to meet
Saturday, March the 12th. 2:30 p. m.
