A. & B. Offices
Transfer of Offices from Way
c:oBs fo Atlanta will
Soon Be Made.
Two or three additional stories
are to be added to the new build
ng of the Georgia Railway and
Electric company on Marietta
street, west of the postoffice, for
the accommodation of the general
offices of the Atlantic and Birm
ingham railroad. While both H.
M. Atkinson and Preston Arkwr
ight were out of the city, and all
the others in the offices said that
the subject was outside of their
jurisdictlon, the report was ac
cepted in railroad circles.
It was further stated that the }
change of these general offices
would be ‘made from Waycross
to Atlanta within a month or two
and would be in active operation }
is plenty of time for the official
opened of the new line from Mon-‘
tezuma to Talbotton, which is
expected within the next. sixty
days. '
The transfer of these offices to
Atlanta, in addition to bringing
150 railroad men, will mean much
to the city with the completion of
this road from Atlaata to tidewa
ter at Brunswick, and with the}
building of the conremplated
Tampa Northern, a direct route
from Atlanta to the gulf and the
west coast of Florida.
The general offices of the At-|
lantic and Birmingham which
will be moved from Waycross,
to Atlanta are those of the vice
president and general manager,
anditor, general freight agent,
general passenger agent, master
nechanic and other departments.
It is also expected that one or
two of the offices at Brumswick
mavy be brought to Atlanta with
the Waycross offices.
"~ Oane Atlanta official, who was
in Waycross a day or two ago,
said that he had heard the report
there tbat files and records were
already being packed, ready to
move to A'lanta. He alsostated
that he had heard two or three of
the officials speak of coming to
Atlanta, and had express¢d them
selves with.being greatly delight
ed with the change.
Teacher’s Meeting.
The next meeting of the Irwin
County Teachers Institute will
be held at Ray on March 3rd.
