In the midst of city court pro
ceedings the other day the pro
gram was varied by the wedding
of Jessie Smith and his dusky
bride, Lula Freeman. Judge
Kennedy cal'ed off the program
and Col. D. B. Jay officiated.
When the bridal pair were called
o tbe floor the ebony bridegroom
as tho long accustomed to the
grind of the court, even more soO
than the bymenial altar, briskly
held up his right band to be
sworn in. A gentle reminder
from a lawyer brought the off-n

ceeded without furtber bitch

“ Salute your bride.” A d. ft

short that part of the program
and court again merged into
soleman coanclave.
