'Red Cross Seals in Greater
I Demand Than Ever Before
i\‘»’ashington. D. C., December Ist.
Announcement comes from the
lheadquarters of the American Nat
jonal Red Cross that C hristmas Seals
] are being printed at the rate of a mil
lion a day and that already over 60-
l 00000 have been given outto agents
lin all parts of the United States.
!The demand for these holiday seals
is greater than ever before.
At the same time the Red Cross
issues a warning calling attention
of all users of Christmas Seals to
the ruling of the Post-office Depart
ment that these stickers must be
placed on the backs of letters and
packages. To avoid the possibiliy
of the misuse of holiday seals, warn
ing cards are being posted in every
booth where Red Cross Seals are
sold, telling that the stickers are not
good for postage and must be used
only as seals.
Already several million seals have
been sold to large manufacturing
concerns and other business houses
in all parts of the United States, and
orders are coming in hourly. The
outlook for selling 100,000,000 seals
and thereby making good the slogan
of the campaign, “A Million for
Tuberculosis,” are very bright.

Resolutions of Respect
Whereas the Great Commander
“Who ‘doeth all things well” has
seen fit to remove from our midsti
another one of our Comrades in our
brother H. C. Weise, therefore be it
resolved:
That we bow our heads in hum
ble submission to Him who know
eth all things, who loves his ownl
agd who hath said “All things worki
together for good to them that lovel
the Lord.”
That we extend to the bereaved
family in this their sore hour of
grief and distress our cordial sym
pathy and sincere condolence, and
commend them to our All wise
Father for real consolation and
comfort.
That we, the members of Post No.
Department of Georgia and South
Carolina G. A. R. each extent our
hope that we shall ‘all be reunited
in one great army where there is
no strife. or pain or discord to ever
annoy or grieve us.
May we meet again in a brighter|
land,
Where farewell is never spoken;
Where we shall clasp eachothers
hand in hand,
And the clasp shall not be broken.
‘ Resolved further, that a copy of
these resolutions be furnished the
bereaved family, a copy to our City
paper for publication, and a copy to
the National Tribune. :

Moving Picture Progress l
No doubt moving pictures will|
always be exhibited to a great ex
tent for entertainment purposes, but
recent developments along more
serious lines are interesting.
One film recently exhibited under
the American Civic Association as
entitled, “The Filthy Fly.” and show-l
ed graphically the unsanitary habits
of that insect. A wonderful new‘
machine, by the way, taking two
thousand pictures a second, has‘
greatly facilitated the photographing
of insects on the wing. It is hoped
that there will be new light on the,
problem of flight as a result of the
new device. ‘
Moving pictures as a means of
propaganda are suggested in the!
fact that films are being prepared
showing the dangers of unhygenic
dairy farms anc teaching the value
of clean milk. Pathe Freres, the
well known French film manufact
urers, are now producing a sort of
picture newspaper, setting forth cur
rent events in pictoral form. Thus
far, it is said, these moving picture
papers carry no advertising.
Of very great importance is the
successful series of experiments in
Munich, in which Xray motion pic
tures of the internal organs of the
human body were bbtainen. By the
new device digestion, for example,
can be studied actually in progress.
The discovery promises to add great
ly to the sum of our knowledge of
physiology and disease.
